BTW I did try to turn it into @springcloud Event Gateway while at Pivotal.
Unsuccessfully as you can see but I hope one day we'll see such project by somebody.
At least @gAmUssA and I had a ton of fun live streaming our experiments with it 😀

Unlike Kafka proxies, an Event Gateway can unlock many interesting use cases, similar to API Gateways.
You can make it read (or write!)-only, filter/obfuscate/encrypt data in transit, and much more.
