@itskyleconner @Skye_Borg Yeah, but at $125,000 - it’s gonna take a few more years to filter down to the mass audience/customer. Can’t wait to see IX3/EX60 out in the wild soon

@RivianTrackr Is it really that bad? @tommolog really settled this point on the batteries included podcast, R2 has an amazing charging curve, 150-200 miles in just over 20 mins and move on! Around town, daily driving, this range is not an issue! Settled my nerves!

There seems to be some confusion. Just because this is what the results were based on our testing with Out of Spec does not make me dislike the R2 any less, does not make the R2 less of a road trip machine, etc. R2 range isn't good and R2 is a great EV can both be true at the same time.

R2 Performance. 330-mile EPA rating. 253 miles in a real 70 mph test. Let me explain. riviantrackr.com/news/the-r2-pe…

@itskyleconner You don’t fly on a plane that has one sensor to verify auto pilot. Regulations demand multiple sensor for redundancy. I hear FSD is amazing but it still makes mistakes. The solution is out there and will be solved in time

Sharing this on my page since I totally forgot! On the topic of ADAS sensors, almost every expert I talk to tells me that Radar, LiDAR, and maybe ultrasonic redundancy is needed for poor weather conditions Now, I’m not saying what we experienced in this video is the *worst* possible driving condition, but the car handled everything totally fine with strong rain What’s your take on sensors? More the merrier or does it create more chance for false positives when you’re not sure which sensor to trust 🧐

@FutureAZA Remember the MYP only did 10 miles more. So just over 200 miles range as well. The premium and standard versions of the R2 will be better range vehicles - like the MY is down the range

@itskyleconner @Jeremy3292 When are you guys going to test or research how awful the Model Y battery degradation is? Think potential buyers might want to know this is the best range that car will ever see & that it falls off a cliff hard. Owners posting massive capacity losses.

@Michael_L_Rauch @Tesla @Rivian To be fair, my 2025 Hyundai has HDA2 ADAS and if I engage it and don’t touch the wheel in a certain period, it’ll beep and alarm and then send me off a cliff if I didn’t do anything 🤣

@SnazzyLabs @Rivian I drove past the Normal plant today and there were 100s of R2s in the parking lot! Hoping you get it soon!

My mom was frustrated at a Tesla Supercharger on her way to visit family, and not for the reason you might think. She called and said, “There’s this other EV that pulled into the Supercharger and is taking up two spaces, and this place is packed! I now have to wait until a spot frees up. It’s so stupid—why did they do that?” I told her about NACS and how most competitors originally had CCS, that whole story. She said, “It’s such a dumb place to put a charge port. Also why would anyone want to buy that???” 🤣 💀 Yeah I agree it was stupid and most don’t want to buy those other EVs, and unfortunately they give a bad rep to great ones like Tesla.

@OutofSpecDetail 🗣️🗣️that’s 100%! And Y most auto makers are focused on great HW assist. All new cars have good enough ADAS for the highway in 2026.

Hot Take: most people don’t actually want FSD, all people really want is a great highway drive assist. We just did 1000 miles in our EV9 yesterday using Kia’s HDA 2 for 95% of the interstate driving. It’s so nice to be able to control the exact speed I want to go, follow in a distance I want to follow, and be in the lane I want to be in without an arbitrary profile telling me what it wants to do.

@brandenflasch @Staybridge That’s true, I normally arrive at a hotel charger with 20-30% (XC40 75Kwh) just in case they don’t work, so I can find a DCFC if needed. So $25 is expensive when there is an Ionna across the street at 0.37c/kwh

@geemyster @Staybridge If you're there long enough to hit the $25 and keep charging it's actually not awful. If I charged my Lightning it would be ~$0.30/kWh or so which isn't cheap but not outrageous

@brandenflasch PFJ is probably the most expensive option though. True though, prices need to be competitive

Not that bad for a 400V charge curve. Polestar 3 and EX90 should see 250 kW peak, not 230, but that takes a 650A charger to do. I think that would cut 10-80 from 33 minutes to 30. Also some thermal derating? Although it was 58F

@MaxPatten I was just thinking the same! Comparing to my 23 xc40. What sort of miles can you get at highway speeds? 220/230?

Crazy how much better this is than my Polestar 2 was for road tripping. I filled up the entirety of that cars battery (77 kWh usable, generously) in 33 minutes. It’s also, somehow, more efficient at highway speeds 😎
