so you're telling me spirit airlines was in trouble, knew they had to do something, and attempted to participate in the free market by allowing jetblue to acquire them.
the government then stepped in and said, “no, you’re not allowed to participate in the free market, " denying the acquisition.
so then spirit, knowing that they were about to fail, seeks a government bailout, only to be told, "no, you must participate in the free market” to which they were denied participation in.
this doesn’t seem like free market capitalism to me.
@KFitzgerald03@NYCMayor I would imagine if someone doesn’t work they wouldn’t need childcare, unless for interviews etc . Wouldn’t this be mainly for working families? There are low wage earners that need childcare.
@NYCMayor yeah good idea, lets let hard working New Yorkers pay for everyone else. How about you create jobs for underprivileged and stop with the handout nonsense. This helps no one
Rising costs have made $20K a year for child care feel like a "good deal."
Families deserve better. Luckily, universal child care — including 2K — is on the way.
@TheMeatDragon@ronrule This is based on cashless tips, if someone tipped cash there is no guarantee a waiter will report it only to end up sharing with the rest of the staff. And based on experience, most waiters are not as honest. Don't be a waiter if it don't pay enough. Tips are not mandatory.
Percentages make no sense for tipping.
I go to a restaurant and order a $20 steak. Guy at the table next to me orders a $100 steak.
If I tip $5 I’m considered a great tipper, but he’s expected to tip at least $20.
Why? The server literally did the same amount of work!
@ayekeeno That wasn’t “his food” though, he’s just an employee
Y’all act like he came there and schooled them on how to cook or something
He applied for a job, got hired, and worked the kitchen with the rest of the kitchen crew, that’s all
Keith Lee speaks on how he tried to give famous food TikToker Mr. Tenderism a $4,000 tip after reviewing his food, but the restaurant owner wouldn’t allow it, so he ended up giving the money to random people instead 👀❤️🩹💰
@ImMeme0 Snow and garbage heap mountains. They didn’t go uptown to Spanish Harlem, below 125th St., either. Definitely bias towards some neighborhoods!
🚨BREAKING: Brooklyn woman slams Mayor Mamdani for focusing snow cleanup efforts on Manhattan, leaving people in the other 4 boroughs jumping over over “snow mountains.”
@Look_N2MyEyez@spiredthunder1@jackunheard It is but the corners , and ramps are often not done. They were clearing the snow banks that were plowed. Last storm, there were complaints that the elderly& disabled couldn’t catch the bus.
@spiredthunder1@jackunheard New York City workers provide regular snow shovel service?
😶
I thought it was PROPERTY OWNERS RESPONSIBILITY TO SHOVEL SNOW?
Zohran Mamdani is paying New Yorkers $45 per hour to shovel snow in New York.
There are 16 people standing around poking at this little pile of snow.
This alone is costing taxpayers $720/hour.
What a joke.
@SocialAnimalDeg@DanBreenNJ@crypto_tarnado@RezaC1 I am not too sure about that. Because there has always been a homelessness issue in NYC, now I know cops would push them out in parts of Manhattan. That did not really solve the problem but only pushed them to the outer boroughs.
NYC EXPOSURE DEATHS BY STORM:
Blizzard of 2006 (26.9") → 0 deaths
Blizzard of 2016 (26.8") → 2 deaths
Winter Storm of 2026 (11.4") → At least 10 deaths
@crypto_tarnado@RezaC1 The policy decision is to allow homeless people - many of whom have mental health or substance abuse problems - to decide whether or not to utilize shelters in severe weather conditions, rather than coerce them to do so. It’s passive, not active, but that policy is proving deadly
@EricLDaugh@PlanetOfMemes In South Korea, they have more social welfare state than the USA. This wasn’t the example that proves collectivism is bad.
@grok what kind of social programs does South Korea has?
🚨 BREAKING: Gov. Ron DeSantis FIRES BACK at Zohran Mamdani
ZOHRAN: "We'll REPLACE the frigidity of rugged individualism with warmth of collectivism!"
DESANTIS: "We can confidently say Americans prefer the warmth of FLORIDA FREEDOM to the frigidity of New York collectivism!"🔥
Mamdani’s grandstanding just cost NYC 5,000 rent-stabilized units. His performative blockade of the Pinnacle bankruptcy sale failed in court—exposing his housing agenda as chaos, not compassion. Summit’s $451M takeover proves his rent-freeze theatrics backfire: landlords collapse, buildings rot, and tenants get stuck with slumlords.
Remember, Pinnacle owed the city $12.7M in violations under his watch. Mamdani doesn’t fix housing—he weaponizes crisis to push state control.
Adams kept landlords accountable; Mamdani just drives them bankrupt.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani attempted to block a major real estate transaction involving the US branch of Israeli company Summit Properties in Brooklyn over the weekend.
US court rejected Mamdani's attempt
The deal is valued at $451 million and includes more than 5,000 apartments across 90 buildings, most of them subject to rent regulation.
𝗠𝗔𝗠𝗗𝗔𝗡𝗜 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗡𝗬𝗣𝗗 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 #𝟭 𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗥𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗔𝗥𝗚𝗘𝗧 𝗢𝗡 𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗛
Let this sink in.
Zohran Mamdani has 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗡𝗬𝗣𝗗 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 in New York City — the most targeted terror city on the planet — and then 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿.
That is not reform.
That is sabotage.
You do not weaken command, intelligence flow, and leadership in a city that has stopped 𝗱𝗼𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘀 unless you are either dangerously incompetent… or you want chaos.
The daily briefings weren’t political theater.
They were put in place after 9/11 to protect New Yorkers from:
– Lone-wolf extremists
– Coordinated terror cells
– Subway bomb plots
– Vehicle-ramming attacks
And they worked.
Now Mamdani has killed them.
Here’s what was just dismantled, in plain English:
— Direct daily intelligence to NYPD leadership
— Real-time threat coordination
— Clear command accountability
— Proven counter-terror protocols
And this comes after demoting Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
That’s not trimming bureaucracy.
That’s cutting the nerve center.

New York doesn’t need ideology experiments.
It needs vigilance.
This is an 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 — and New Yorkers are the ones being put at risk.
🚨: #MAMDANI - As a former cop, this is insane.
Zohran Mamdani ended daily NYPD intel briefings in the #1 terror target city on Earth and then demoted the Police Commissioner.
You don’t weaken command, intelligence, and leadership unless you want chaos.
Clown. 🤡
@HMBohemond For context , the landlords bought rent stabilized buildings at a discount & with tax breaks .their intention to force out tenants to convert to market rate. Law change so they can’t do that so they don’t keep up apts.
For context: The apartments he's inspecting in New York City are rent controlled by the state. Literally the opposite of capitalism. It's a socialist slum.
@WallStreetApes Canel street has always look like that. To be honest , driving is not an efficient way to get around down there. Maybe she was delivering something
American has lived in New York City her entire life
“I'm currently driving through Canal Street. It literally looks like I just entered a third world country -- It literally looks like a cesspool full of people that are like, Imported here and placed here to ruin the city"⠀
⠀
"Streets are absolutely disgusting. There's garbage everywhere — It's like so disgusting — This is definitely not the Big Apple anymore. I don't know what this is.”
@TJRS1618@adryenn@TheChiefNerd The fire dept and the ems are under the same company. Now if you want to separate the department because by that logic a fire fighter shouldn’t be in control of the ems.
🚨 NEW: Zohran Mamdani Appoints Lillian Bonsignore as New FDNY Commissioner
“Although she never served as a firefighter, she's confident that won't matter … Bonsignore is a trailblazer for the LGBTQ community who will serve as the FDNY's first openly gay commissioner.”
@Valliant4TX@lesleyabravanel Hillarycare was voted down. Clinton proposed a plan because even back then healthcare was unaffordable. What other developed nation has a total free market healthcare, that’s affordable with better outcomes.
We use to have Free market healthcare prior to Hillarycare which started in the 90's and Obamacare which was passed in 2010 at midnight on Christmas eve. That alone should tell you how awful that bill was, not to mention Pelosi said we need to pass it to find out what's in it. Like any of it was going to be good for the people.
The ACA protects against 2 essential insurance abuses: pre-existing conditions and lifetime benefit maximums. Without those two ACA benefits, people with pre-existing conditions can be denied insurance. Those who still have insurance would be facing lifetime benefit maximums.
