This morning I had an appointment at the State Secretariat. See what I find at the Reseved Parking slot for Persons with disability....Could this not be avoided by dumping these stones meant for construction/repairs away from this slot? Is there no sensitivity among the government contractors. There is no supervision ? And nobody even cares to see that this space is not blocked like this? If this is the state of affairs at the State Secretariat imagine how the accessibility of persons with disability is treated elsewhere...!!! What is the level of indifference and insensitivity is this @goapice to repeated complaints of a person with disability. I myself, as a Member of the Goa State Advisory Board on Disability called the PI of Verna Police station regarding this man's complaint. Every time nice reply is, 'i will personally look into it.' When would this happen? Goa government @DrPramodSawant @S_Phal_Dessai and @discommgoa @grpawaskar proudly speak, and rightly so, about International Purple Fest @purplefestgoa , three fests which were meant to sensitise people, bureaucracy, police etc., about Inclusion and accessibility for persons with disability in public spaces. CM and Minister for Empowerment Dept and Commissioner of Disability Rights talk about how it is transforming the mindset in the government about accessibility and inclusion. How the government has been making public spaces accessible. And indeed things are happening,no doubt! Is South Goa District Police Head Quarters not a Goa government 's public building. Is it not one of the government offices which has regular public interface? How long you will give the dubious excuse that it is a heritage building? Recently I visited @spsouthgoa. And took the opportunity to check out the possibility of creating an excess. If you see the pictures below 👇 you can see that there is ample space in the courtyard from where a hydraulic lift can be fitted to take wheelchair on the fist floor where SP and SDPO, DySP, Transport ,etc. have their offices. Does it need rocket science to do this simple accessibility? I brought this issue to the notice of @DGP_Goa and other police officials, including SP South Goa and Minister for PWD and local MLA @digambarkamat ...
