Two personnel from the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) — Second Lt. Fady Faure and Pvt. Alexander Bastienne — will participate in the IOS Sagar initiative of the Indian Navy as part of our longstanding bilateral capacity building engagements. This engagement will commence with a Harbour Phase on 15 Mar 2026 at Kochi, followed by a 50-day sea phase, aimed at enhancing interoperability and strengthening maritime cooperation through shared learning and operations. 🇮🇳🇸🇨

The 2-week ITEC program “Telecom for Digital Tomorrow” sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs conducted at the National Communications Academy–Finance (NCA-F) concluded today. The program together participants from 9 countries in a vibrant exchange of knowledge and global best practices. The program delivered valuable insights into telecom policy, Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), AI and emerging technologies. Met the Vice President of Seychelles, H.E. Sebastien Pillay at Uprashtrapati Bhavan today. We discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation across priority areas, including maritime security, transshipment opportunities, improved market access, and expanding solar and renewable energy initiatives across the island nation by leveraging India’s vast experience in the renewable sector and also discussed enhancing cooperation in the health and housing sectors, with a focus on people-centric development initiatives. As India and Seychelles are commemorating 50 years of diplomatic relations, we appreciated the long-standing diaspora connections, as well as the strong cultural and people-to-people ties between the two nations, and emphasized advancing the partnership to its full potential.
