@Hotshot_Movie Yeah maybe do it around the graffiti and not over it, going over someones piece is a sign of disrespect that some people do not take so lightly. Especially if its gang related so just be careful if anyone actually does it

If you live in LA and your neighborhood is covered in graffiti and the city is ignoring it, just spray paint “VOTE PRATT” over it, and Karen will have it painted over within 20 minutes.

@extradeadjcb It's not whether their positions are left or right on an absolute scale. It's about the *direction* they want to go - they won't start voting Right if utah goes too far to the left, they'll just keep voting further left because that's how progressivism works.

my worldview is in some ways not just atheoretical but antitheoretical I think it is a very good thing that most people let practical reality sand off the sharp edges of their philosophies, because most people believe some crazy and evil things and are kept in check by norms most of the worst people in history are the ones who are so committed to one theory or another that they are willing to brush aside all of the sanity checks, common-law morality, and balancing tools broader society has built to keep things more-or-less running, and embrace their Pure Theory independent of consequences it is very, very good that most people lack the courage of their convictions, because we are neither smart enough nor good enough for our convictions to be good enough to bypass all sanity checks

@MetricReject Patently fake, and anyone who knows how a radar works will agree. The radar has a minimum range which is defined by the time delay between transmitting and the switch to receiving which is many multiples of the operating wavelength. For a SPY-1 radar would be many meters.

@rittenhouse2a @reddit_lies Seeing the mixed reactions on X makes me curious, what percentage of people IRL give you high fives and free drinks vs. the percentage who have public meltdowns? (I'd buy you a drink, but I doubt you'd ever be in SF...)

@remitch_3rd @NanJ_Sekaishi The Quran is supposed to be the literal word of Allah. I've read it. Only 5% of it is actual rules for how to live life. About 30% is talk about how powerful Allah is. 60% is talk about how nonbelievers are evil and will all be killed by Allah and tortured in horrible ways.

@Michael34664811 @jjpcodes @mil000 They're still subject to DFARS and ITAR, and the insane USG contracting/compliance requirements. Been there done that. There is no way a US company will ever be able to compete with commercially produced drones unless that overhead is removed.

@sebas0816 @TodayiLearrned Not "lower quality" per se. The image does not depict a ranking of "quality", only a ranking of density and average molecular mass. Jet fuel has more energy per unit volume and a lower flashpoint than gas, which is ideal for airplanes.

@TodayiLearrned I learned this in chemistry class in 10th grade or so. It was interesting to learn that powerful jet fuel is lower quality than what you put in your car.

@lighthousejerry @kofinas If the US was going to deplete it's weapon stores in 1-2 months of combat with Iran, those same stores would have been depleted in half the time against the much bigger China. After that it's a war of industrial capacity which China could very well win anyways.

He also has benefited from the fact that he took over the greatest military in history and the best economy. I worry less about China, because it’s abundantly apparent that he’s afraid of China and what they can do. And after depleting the weapons that we had, so severely, and China, essentially owning all of the primary parts we need, he’s gonna be on his hands and knees when he meets with Xi in May.

I've always felt that Trump was a two-dimensional thinker. His success has come largely from his ability to exploit behavioral norms and from his lack of inhibition, including his use of strategic irrationality. Up until now, he's operated in a world of laws, norms, and rational expectations, banking on his counterparties' commitments to the status quo and their willingness to de-escalate. What he did by assassinating Iran's leader alongside members of his immediate family at the war's outset and by continuously acting in bad faith during the course of negotiations has been to change the underlying conditions of the game. He does not seem to recognize that. He certainly hasn't adjusted his behavior accordingly, but it seems that the Iranians have. What worries me is that this behavior will eventually have the same impact on Chinese calculations, whether through spillover from the current conflict or in some future confrontation. While the world can weather prolonged disruptions to the global economy stemming from the constriction of traffic in the strait, a set of similar strategic miscalculations vis-à-vis China could lead to the most catastrophic war the world has ever seen.
Alayna Treene@alaynatreene

New: Some Trump officials privately acknowledge that the president’s public commentary has been detrimental to talks, noting the sensitivity of the negotiations and the Iranians’ deep mistrust of the US. That was especially true on Friday, when the Pakistanis were in Tehran for talks with the Iranians. As the meeting played out, Trump took to Truth Social and spoke with several reporters, claiming Iran had agreed to a host of provisions that sources familiar with the talks said had not yet been finalized. He also asserted that Tehran had agreed to many of the most contentious US demands and declared an imminent end to the war. Behind the scenes w/ @Kevinliptakcnn cnn.com/2026/04/20/pol…

@jmwilt21 @MakoTr_315 That's not under extruding. You're looking at the bottom side of the part which would have been touching support material. And that is the single cleanest support breakaway / bridging I have ever seen. A+

@Pertplus1 @IterIntellectus Crime can never be eliminated, only managed more or less effectively. Once you've arrested all the dumbasses with haircut 1, they're out of the general population. If anyone is stupid enough to signal their criminality with a new visual indicator you can arrest them too.

@qualadder @mindsex69420 @mattparlmer No, but it still costs as much as an RV and has a multi-month leadtime to replace. Oh, and requires 480v power and hydraulic hookups... and can only be set up by a trained person, who probably got drafted. And it requires a dedicated rigging company to move.

@Fringe_MinoritE @NickJFreitas @TCNetwork Islam says that anyone who claims Jesus was the son of God is a heretic who will burn for all eternity, have the skin torn from their bodies, having only pus to drink. Jews might not be fans of Jesus but at least they don't want to massacre his followers.

@NickJFreitas @TCNetwork I think you’re getting it confused. Islam sees Jesus as a profit. The small hats, you’re obviously bought and paid for by, hates Jesus and think he is swimming in boiling excrement, for the rest of eternity. They hate everyone who isn’t “chosen”. They hate you.

The people in charge don't want you to know this, but Muslims love Jesus. Islam reveres Him as a major prophet and messenger of the Lord, believes He performed miracles, and states that He will return to Earth to defeat the Antichrist. That's why Donald Trump's painting depicting himself as the Son of God offended the president of Iran. It was an attack on his religion as well as Christianity. Today's Morning Note newsletter covers Masoud Pezeshkian's condemnation of Trump's “desecration of Jesus,” the Iran War's gutting effects on America's housing market, Colombia's plan to murder Pablo Escobar's hippopotami, and more. @Xaraphim Not because of safety, it will be because of interoperability. Major engineering firms are locked in to software packages so that they and their vendors can share data and know that it will all be openable and editable in 20 years. Not so with some vibecoded shovelware.

i really think in a few months to years there will be fully open source ansys/catia/solidworks, etc clones that work identically to the OG and fix all the issues these legacy tools have in response engineering software will become regulated for any sort of professional work even though you could spin up something better than solidworks in a weekend, you wont be allowed to use it for anything that gets stamped the incumbents lose their technical moat the second AI collapses the build cost so they will obviously move the moat certification will be tied to the software vendor, not the engineering. FAA, ASME, state PE boards will only accept drawings from an approved list, and your custom tool won’t make the cut no matter how good the output is they will try and frame it as safety or something BigCAD® will stop competing on features (not like they often ship meaningful features often anyway) and start competing on lobbying

@_baldtires As well they should be. They outsource work to the lowest bidder and don't make parts to print. I've had them cut off important geometry, realize their mistake, weld a blob of metal back on and recut it to shape. Verboten for stuff made from specific alloys and tight tolerances!

@twallyweb Over $4k I use Angie's list because it is all 100% escrow account and Angie's doesn't release to contractor until job is complete. And will find a new contractor at zero cost if job is incomplete. It is worth the extra 10% Angie's puts on to be your project manager.

Residential remodels are funny because your options are 1. Pay $40,000 for a bathroom remodel with high likelihood of success 2. Pay $15,000 but have a 25% chance of getting completely robbed and a 75% chance of a terrible customer experience
