How much more of other people’s money do you think you’re entitled to? In 2025, wealthy New York City residents paid a combined marginal tax rate exceeding up to 51.8% or higher—when combining federal, state, and city income taxes. The top 1 percent of earners in NYC paid over 40% of all local income taxes.

It has begun. Thousands are here, demanding we tax the rich in this year’s budget. Kathy Hochul, are you listening?

@MattCover Without context, this is meaningless. We've all seen some of the absolutely nonsensical "scientific" research programs the Fed has funded over the years. We've also seen what passes for PhDs and the "robust" system for publication.

@Strangeland_Elf My son's pediatrician told me that children are naturally night owls. He said it's even cross cultural. There are exceptions but most kids have a natural rhythm to stay up late and wake up late.

Not everyone naturally goes to bed and wakes at the same time but it is still determined by the rising and setting of the sun. Morning sun and darkness in the evening are things that your body uses as cues for hormones.

@pricedliberty @igarglewithfire @NickJFuentes It's also disturbing to watch how many people latch on to Fuentes strawman as well. 47 years of Iranian hostility, many Americans dead, active belligerence during negotiations, but the US is "going to war for Israel". For the love of God, people, get your news from sane people.

@Pro__Trading @MattWalshBlog "What war?" The War Iran has been waging against the US for 50 years. Apparently it takes Congressional agreement to admit this. As to that, when you have a huge chunk of elected officials rooting for the enemy time and time again, how do you functionally get Congress on board?

If you’re a proponent of this war, so be it. Make your case. But lecturing skeptics for not “trusting Trump” is the dumbest argument you could possibly make. It is perfectly reasonable for American to be skeptical of regime change wars in the Middle East. Trump himself was skeptical of them. The idea that we are obligated to just assume it’s a good move because Trump decided to do it is asinine, not to mention un-American.

These are all Communists. Not "people who are to my left are commies." Actual Communists. Just search for CUNY Internationalist Clubs and the other names on those signs. Communism is a cult without a God. It demands your entire life in service to them. You're seeing that there are a lot of Communists out there who are dedicated to destroying the country.

This actually reveals a much darker and more disturbing issue. When working on legislation that would provide clear options for parents on how to manage miscarriage, we are met with opposition by the abortion industry because they don't want our offspring that are miscarried to be referred to as humans, babies, or infants. Miscarriage is a difficult and heartbreaking experience for many women. After providing reproductive mental healthcare for over 10 years, it is clear to me women (prolife or prochoice) in this situation don't want political nonsense about abortion. They are not experiencing an abortion. What they want is support and clarity. The reality is that a billion dollar industry that makes a profit from killing and removing offspring from women rely on dehumanization, disassociation, and disenfranchisement to continue their business. That is how we end up with babies in dumpsters or thrown over embankments. Clear options for how to handle human remains after pregnancy loss would greatly assist those experiencing it. Those options should include: 1) private burial/services in line with the faith tradition of the parents and in legal parameters of where humans can be buried. (This option should be free and there are often non-profit organizations that assist with costs.) 2) Taking the baby to the local hospital for testing and/or proper management of disposal. Depending on the age of the baby, the hospital will cremate or bury the remains in a group. Parents should have the opportunity to state which option they prefer and they should know where those remains are located. (This option is free in most places. If hospitals are billing for this, we need a discussion on the cost of death.) 3) Calling a funeral home for assistance with proper management of disposal. (This option is often free as funeral homes usually wave any fees in this case. If not, there are usually nonprofits who will cover the costs.) During my miscarriage, I took my little girl en caul to the hospital for testing. The lab tech was extremely rude and disrespectful when denying my request for the opportunity to bury her after testing per our religious beliefs. To this day, I don't know how she was disposed of or where her remains are located. Woman after woman tells me about their distress in flushing their child or throwing them out in the trash. How we care for our children after death, no matter how small they may be, is an act of parenting. Being denied clear paths to respect the dignity our children and acknowledging the losses we experience is a large part of the problem. In my red state, we have a law about how hospitals must dispose of human remains. Unfortunately, the ways these laws are presented to parents by staff that are political activists further wound the parents. Rather than simply explaining to parents they have the option of choosing to manage the end of life care in their own, pick between cremation or burial by the hospital, or let the hospital decide; these activists tell parents the state is forcing the hospital to demand parents manage the disposal or face legal charges. There are no legal charges for parents if they refrain from making a decision. The decision defaults back to the hospital. Hospitals have protocols for managing human remains as part of biohazard standards. Fear mongering is a staple of leftist tactics. It is emotional and trauma propoganda designed to create destabilization and panic presented as if it is compassion or empathy. It is not empathetic or compassionate to lie to women in order to create anger and panic. It is not empathetic or compassionate to pretend there is no need for proper disposal of human remains after pregnancy loss. If abortion is going to continue to be legal, we need to address the reality that human remains need to be disposed of rather than scapegoating the pain of women going through miscarriages.
Joyce Carol Oates@JoyceCarolOates

Seriously—what is a woman who has miscarried supposed to do “legally “ in a red state? If she is in the care of a doctor does he report her? Does an ER report her? The grief & physical distress of a miscarriage in itself is a punishment. But the state wants to punish her more? Does this include MAGA women? Why do they vote for this?

The baby was born. The parents failed to call for help. They then abandoned the baby outside...alone...exposed. They opted to go to the hospital WITHOUT the baby. She was not jailed for having a miscarriage. Cut the bullshit. There's always more to the story.

🏥 PSA, though I’m sure this will go nowhere: When a psychopathic, sadistic nurse outs herself on social media, you need to look up her license number (specific to the state where she’s licensed to practice), take that number to that state’s Board of Nursing (BON) website, and use it and her full name to file a complaint with the BON. 🛑 Do not bother tagging the president. 🛑 Do not bother submitting a tip to the FBI. Reporting her to her employer is a good idea, but the NUMBER ONE PRIORITY is submitting a complaint via the Board of Nursing. BON is the governing body that controls licensure. With serious disciplinary action or license revocation via BON, nurses who wish harm on their patients won’t be able to practice ANYWHERE. They lose the privilege of being a nurse. Period. Thank you for your attention to this very important matter. @libsoftiktok

I wrote a book on the BP oil disaster, & there’s a critical parallel with ICE protests in Minnesota that almost everyone is missing. When the Deepwater Horizon explosion dominated Twitter for months, the narrative was simple: BP cut corners on safety. That story was comforting. It was also wrong. Dead wrong. The disaster wasn’t caused by too little safety. It was caused by safetyism. Before the explosion, HR and HSE departments overwhelmingly filled with women who never worked a dangerous job in their life became obsessed with eliminating all injuries offshore. Not major hazards. Not catastrophic risk. ALL injuries, even minor cuts & bruises. Tens of millions of dollars. Thousands of hours of paperwork. Endless training modules. Everyone, from dishwasher to captain, was empowered to shut down a drilling operation costing millions per day to prevent a sprained ankle. Meanwhile, people with deep technical expertise, guys who actually understood blowout risk, were sidelined or fired for saying the obvious: That HR induced exhaustion causes accidents. That drowning crews in paperwork makes them miss real danger. That spending money on back-injury training means less money preventing explosions. Like the protesters in Minnesota, HR and Safety became powerful, organized, coordinated via expensive software, mobile & completely detached from reality. One crewman reported a serious onboard fire that nearly killed someone. Nothing happened for weeks. When he kept pushing a manager told him to STFU. He called HR to report the “verbal abuse.” Within hours, an executive helicopter full of HR Quick Reaction Team launched from Houston. They didn’t investigate the fire. They investigated him, the guy who called HR. Their conclusion? The man reporting the fire was “repeatedly harassing the crew to report the fire.” He was fired. A company-wide HR memo publicly shamed him. All in the name of “safety.” Here’s the truth they refused to accept: offshore drilling is dangerous. You cannot extract tens of millions of barrels of oil without injuries & yes, sometimes death. Now apply that lesson to Minnesota. Law enforcement is dangerous. You cannot deport tens of millions of people without injuries & yes, sometimes death. Yes, Renee Good was shot. Yes, Alex Pretti was shot. Yes, ICE operations result in injuries. And yes more people will be hurt by ICE this year. But HR didn’t eliminate injuries offshore. They just reclassified them for statistics, exhausted the workforce, and made people afraid to report real problems setting the stage for a major explosion. That’s exactly what’s happening now. ICE agents are being forced to waste time protecting identities, managing feelings, navigating activist “volunteers” & hesitating rather than acting decisively when seconds matter. Every minute an agent loses sleep worrying about this is a minute less rested. Every hour spent on crowd-management training is an hour not spent on training to manage violent criminals. And worse.. I’m a ship captain. I was trained to make the hardest choice: to do the most good for the most people. I was taught that one day I might have to send a fire team into a space they won’t come back from to buy passengers ten more minutes to reach lifeboats. That’s the job. Numbers matter. Yes, Renee Good was shot. That’s tragic. But it pales next to the hundreds killed by violent illegal immigrants under Biden. It’s nothing compared to the thousands who died between the Darién Gap and Mexico. It’s microscopic compared to the 400,000 fentanyl deaths many in ICUs like the one Alex Pretti worked in. Yes, some children were separated from families. But FAR fewer than the number raped, killed, or abandoned between the Darien Gap & Mexico under Biden The hard truth is this: Safetyism caused the BP explosion. Safetyism has killed millions. Safetyism is killing this nation right now. ICE protestors aren’t saving lives, they are pushing the body count higher.
