@levelsio @xai Didn’t even know this was happening since I don’t check my burner email, have two sites on grok-4-1-fast-non-reasoning and would have been annoyed having them randomly break…

Here's exactly what I mean: On May 15, @xAI Grok will retire grok-4-1-fast-non-reasoning and API requests for them will fail I have 9 days to change the model name in 30+ sites/apps so they keep working It'd make much more sense to me if they'd just update to the latest model with the same pricing, or let me use a model name like 'latest' that just auto updates Although actually people's arguments against this make sense regarding pricing: In this case there is no similar priced "latest" model, pricing goes up from $0.20/input + $0.50/output in Grok 4.1 to $1.25/input + $2.50/output in Grok 4.3 But I'd be fine with that too, I just don't want all my apps/sites to break and keep running forever without me having to change code!

If you work for OpenAI, Anthropic or xAI Please add a 'model'=>'latest' value so I can stop having to change model every 6 months!

@TyRobben @CedarStResearch Also trying to kneecap OpenAI which would free up more investment dollars to flow into SpaceX IPO as being the only logical choice as an investor wanting to ride the next AI wave

@CedarStResearch I think it’s more about Elon being able to say they power the worlds most popular AI app ahead of IPO than anything. Wouldn’t be surprised at the relationship transforming shortly after IPO…they both need each other badly right now but I don’t see how Elon needs them after IPO

Agreed here, it’s an uphill battle for incumbents in terms of adoption. For new ai-native companies I think the best way is to make the front door of the process mirror the existing way and use AI in the background to unwind all the mess and serve the user faster. Insurance example, agents get tired of portals so just let them email submissions in the same way they do today but get back to them in 5 minutes instead of 5 days to win them over…

@TyRobben Yea and the crazy thing is that most large incumbents are structurally incapable of executing on this. @pmarca’s “build new companies” quote has been living rent-free in my head lately.

I’ve joked about the “one man insurance company” before With how this rebuilt end to end platform is looking I’m starting to believe you could bootstrap a one man underwriting operation with it The long awaited slashing of expense ratios is near

Agentic rebuild of the end-to-end platform was drifting hard 10 days in...just brought in repo prompt to assess the situation, reformulate the plan. Even with agents working 24/7 and token maxxing, this stuff is not easy. Probably another 7-10 days on this rebuild. On the other hand, I'm feeling more confident I'll be scary close to production grade (potentially deployable) solution in 2-4 weeks. Deployable Guidewire that is...

Sitting in at coffee shop then I glance over seeing someone looking at the GStack Github page by @garrytan - I asked the guy if he's tried it yet, but he's just starting to look at it. When I mentioned GStack another guy in front of me quickly turned around. Shit man, Garry built something viral.

After spending a few late nights with #GStack by @garrytan - I can say that it's the most impressive new open source project of 2026, and that the product thinking is exceptionally sharp. Thank you Gary and recommend everyone check this out, it's 10x'd my Claude Code output..

@LiamHarreys Most of the AI stuff I’ve seen out of the big AMS vendors are super basic and missing the point entirely

AMS systems are releasing AI native tooling to become one-stop-shops, and yet I talk to more and more brokers who are building high growth agencies from scratch or from existing books with no AMS at all. Interesting times.

speedrun literally changed our lives. applications for this @speedrun cycle are now open - and if you're an early founder/startup, shoot your shot. more than just funding (because you can find that anywhere nowadays), here's what i found the most helpful for @cloutedhq: 1. mentorship: access to high-touch, dedicated help from the entire firm. seriously, you don't get this anywhere else. working with @tkexpress11, @SamiraBehrouzan, @andrewchen, @tafokints, etc is awesome! 2. community: building startups is tough. but with speedrun, you get to meet so many other awesome founders + operators at the same stage as you. many of whom became good friends like @CocoBuildsStuff, @jjschnyder, @audrlo! 3. credits: insane amounts of credits/savings through their partners. we probably would've run out of money from compute + AI costs alone if speedrun didn't exist. apps are competitive, but there's never a better time for you to pitch and put your best foot forward. if you're applying (or considering) and want any advice before submitting - feel free to DM! also a scout, so happy to make direct intros to the team :)

ok - dropping big dates/news for a16z speedrun: - starting TODAY, founders can apply for the 2026 program that runs July 27 to Oct 11 in SF here's the link: speedrun007.a16z.com/ac - we will be investing up to $1M and funding 70+ companies over the next few weeks - But there's also $5M in credits/tokens/etc from AWS/GCP/Open AI/Azure/NVIDIA/Deel/Stripe/etc. You'll also work with our amazing operating team (GTM, talent, brand, people, and more), and join our community of elite founders - we offer a Global Founders Program for international founders, to help with visas, banking support, relo recommendations - yes you can be solo (but better if you're further along, and have built a team). No you don't have to have an idea yet. Yes you have to know how to build (even if you're not technical) - Also, in other news: speedun is officially moving full-time to SF. (prev it alternated SF/LA) this is for all the obv reasons - we've continued to have an insane lineup of speakers, including the founders of Carta / DoorDash / Twilio / Figma / Zynga / Airtable / Twitch / and of course, lunch/dinners with Marc/Ben alongside a16z team - and much more - the deadline for applying is May 17!

I joined a16z @speedrun when it was gaming focused. Now they back generational companies across every category. Not many teams have the range to pull off that kind of jump. And that's who you want on your side. Applications for the July batch are now open. DM for an intro!
