@windsurf I used to happily pay for your $60 month plan. You lowered it and said it would be better. Now, your making things more complicated and vague. With the option to pay for a massively expensive $200 a month plan (no middle ground.) {Shake my head}

Our previous credit-based plans charged the same rate for both simple and complex requests. This made users scared of asking quick questions and pressured them to cram multiple requests into single prompts. This impacted the quality of their Windsurf experience.

We're simplifying Windsurf pricing across Free, Pro, and Teams alongside launching a new Max plan for our power users. The new plans replace credits with industry-standard daily and weekly quotas. For the majority of users, this will be enough to fully cover all agent usage. If you’re a paying subscriber, your price isn't changing, and we're including a free extra week to try the new system before you commit.

@windsurf How can you say that people were afraid to use the model for small questions and at the same time limit opus usage to seven requests per day? I’m currently doing that in about an hour.

@thsottiaux It should master being able to use a browser. Full blown end-to-end testing.

What are we consistently getting wrong with codex that you wish we would improve / fix?

@thsottiaux I'm not sure why codex has to stay a programming platform. Why can't it do things like "Design me a two story house. Full blueprints, elevation diagrams. CAD format. Land surveys, 3D Renderings" It's just a different type of vertical harnessed platform.

Working at OpenAI is fun because questioning everything and taking risks is part of the culture. Within Codex, the team asks itself how we could make it an order of magnitude better every few months and then sets most things aside to go and do it across the entire stack. Some examples were the Codex App and our first deployment of Cerebras inference with WebSockets. We are now well under way on the next bet and it’s making even our best engineers nervous as it’s at the edge of what’s possible today.

@thsottiaux Why not make the harness do more than code? Example create cad designs. Different language under the hood but same idea. ‘Design me a modern 2 story home’

With GPT-5.4 out. What should Codex ship or improve next?

@thsottiaux - always fix lint issues. I'm constantly cleaning them up. - If a change is made that requires the server to be restarted, just do it.

Speed and front-end capabilities: we heard that loudly, and things are improving quickly, to the point where I think we are now highly competitive on speed, if not best-in-class. What else should we improve for Codex?

@thsottiaux A glaring need is the ability to just develop from the website. You host the space. For 99% of users codex link in the app is something that is just there and they don't know what to do with it. There should be a "New Application" geared towards vibe coders. Like replit has.

Codex team is fairly distributed, but most of the team is gathering in person over next 48 hours to take a step back and align on what’s next this year. What should we discuss?

@thsottiaux End to end testing. Develop a feature and full data entry in the browser and verify results. I find myself babysitting iterations of testing. It needs to be an expert at using the browser and console

What could we do better on Codex? App, model, strategy and features… what’s wrong in how we approach things that we should improve immediately?

@geoffreyhinton Excellent analysis. What happened this week with moltbook seems to make this report feel ironically "outdated". No design for safety, and malicious http://soul .md files. That scares the hell out of me. I hope you will ring the alarm on this.

@itsandrewgao @windsurf It should be able to do real testing for you so you don’t have to go back and forth and say ‘this doesn’t work still”, “This isn’t working”. There should be an agent that is excellent at testing so you can go have coffee and let it talk to it.
