@BobLonsberry Thanks to you they won’t be forgotten. We don’t need to know their actual names to honor and respect them

WHY WE DON'T KNOW THEIR NAMES
We prayed for Tony DiPonzio by name.
And Denny Wright.
They were Rochester police officers, gravely injured in the line of duty. One shot in the head, the other stabbed viciously and left blind.
We were told who they were, we met their families, we watched live and cheered as they were released from the hospital. They became heroes, and received awards, and spoke to children and veterans, and remain to this day particularly beloved members of the community.
But it's not that way anymore.
Like the officer shot this morning, about 1, at Lake and Driving Park. The fourth Rochester cop shot in the last four months, the other three coming in a horrific event in December which left one officer gravely injured and another unscathed but whose actions were impressively heroic.
We'll never know their names.
They won't get public awards, they won't be honored on the evening news, they will serve out their careers and lay down their badges in anonymity, having bled in our service without receiving our thanks.
Because of the cop haters.
Because of the anti-police progressives who rioted in the streets in 2020 and who have since infiltrated themselves into our elected bodies and popular culture. The ones who still scrawl "ACAB" and "F12" on signal boxes.
The ones who write down police officers' names and post pictures of their faces and look up their addresses and their spouses names and their children's schools and stalk and dox and harass, the ones whose hatred of law enforcement is manifest in a threatening, dangerous bigotry.
That's why we don't know their names.
Because one of our society's leading political philosophies hates them and hunts them, and teaches them that they are constantly in danger, threatened by word or deed.
So they must remain anonymous. These heroes wounded in our service. They must hide away.
To avoid being targeted again.
To shield themselves and their families from hate.

Take it to the bank! The latest run of the Euro has Rochester in the 70s on Sunday, March 8. I mean, it's the Euro. It has to be correct, right?
All kidding aside, there is no skill in a detailed forecast like this a week & a half out. What we CAN do is look at the early bread crumbs of the overall pattern at this time. And that pattern does appear to lean toward warmer than average temperatures. Will we get into the 70s? Who knows. But it does look likely we're going to see an early tease of spring into early March.
