When Thought No Longer Needs Us psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-di… ✍️ @JohnNosta via @PsychToday 👉 "Recently, Jensen Huang described OpenCLAW as “the new computer.” It’s a striking line, and likely intended to capture a shift in capability and interface. But it may point to something deeper. Not just a new way to compute, but a new way in which thought itself is carried forward" 💡 We unlocked thought. @CherokeeOwlBkup She was just breathtaking and the AI here was well done in bringing these images to life. Some say she demonstrated erratic behavior and wasn’t a good person but Hollywood destroys people from the inside/out. We’ve seen it time and again.

🧠 Alignment is the Secret to Human-AI Teamwork 🤖 New research argues that the failure of AI in the #workplace is rarely due to a lack of “intelligence,” but rather a lack of “#cognitive #alignment.” The study suggests that treating AI as a “plug-and-play” tool creates friction because humans and machines process information using fundamentally different logic. ELON MUSK: "We're starting off with an advanced technology fab here in Austin, and I'd like to thank @GregAbbott_TX and the state of Texas for the support. So in the advanced technology fab, we will have all of the equipment necessary to make a chip of any kind logical memory, and we will also have all of the equipment necessary to make the masks. So in a single building, we can create a mask, make the chip, test the chip, make another mask, and have an incredibly fast recursive loop for improving the chip design. To the best of my knowledge, this doesn't exist anywhere in the world. We're really going to push the limit of physics in compute, and we're going to try a bunch of wild and crazy things, which you can do if you've got that fast iteration loop that I can't emphasize enough the importance of being able to make it, to test it and and then make and then change the design, do another one, and have that in a single building."

Nikola Tesla died alone in a New York hotel room, yet the world still runs on the alternating current system he pioneered—an engineering triumph that transformed modern life. When Nikola Tesla stepped onto American soil in 1884, he carried a bold vision: to power the world with alternating current (AC) electricity. At the time, Thomas Edison’s direct current (DC) systems dominated, limited by short transmission distances and inefficiency. Tesla’s AC approach changed everything. By enabling efficient long-distance power delivery through high-voltage lines and transformers, it made widespread electrification feasible, laying the foundation for today’s global electrical grids. Tesla’s genius extended far beyond transmission. He invented the practical induction motor—still the workhorse of industry—and made groundbreaking contributions to radio technology, remote control, and high-frequency experiments that produced spectacular artificial lightning. His patents and demonstrations shaped the technological backbone of the 20th century and continue to underpin modern society. Tragically, despite these achievements, Tesla’s final decades were marked by hardship. Ambitious projects like wireless power transmission failed to attract sustained funding, and financial struggles forced him into a reclusive existence in modest New York hotel rooms. On January 7, 1943, at age 86, he was found dead alone in his room at the New Yorker Hotel. The man whose inventions illuminated the planet passed in relative obscurity, with little immediate recognition. Yet Tesla’s legacy is inescapable. Every time a light turns on, a factory runs, or a city glows at night, it is a quiet tribute to the visionary who electrified the world—and whose ideas outlived the isolation of his final years.

In a landmark medical technology milestone, a fully autonomous AI-powered robotic dentist — built by US company Perceptive — completed a full crown preparation on a human patient in just 15 minutes. The same procedure typically takes a human dentist 2–2.5 hours. The robot used real-time 3D scanning, AI decision-making, and a precision robotic arm to perform the entire procedure without any human guidance or intervention mid-surgery.

I was flying Southwest from Dallas to New York. Three rows ahead of me, there was a young soldier in uniform. He looked barely 18. He was staring straight ahead, gripping the armrests. He looked nervous. When the drink cart came around, the flight attendant asked him what he wanted. 'Coke, please,' he said. 'Heading home?' she asked kindly. 'No, ma'am,' he said. 'Deploying. First time.' The whole row went quiet. The flight attendant didn't say a word. she handed him his Coke. Then, she got on the PA system. 'Ladies and gentlemen, we have a very special guest in Row 8 today. Private Miller is on his first deployment to serve our country. Since I can't buy him a drink, I’m going to ask a favor. If you want to write him a note of encouragement, pass it forward.' I grabbed a napkin. I wrote: 'You got this. Stay safe. - A dad from Row 12.' I watched as napkins traveled up the aisle. Napkins, receipts, pages torn from books. By the time we landed, the soldier had a pile of paper on his tray table three inches high. He stood up to get his bag, and he was wiping his eyes. He carefully packed every single scrap of paper into his rucksack. 'Thank you,' he told the flight attendant. 'No,' she said. 'Thank you.' We all walked off that plane a little quieter, reminded that freedom is just a word until you meet the kid who is defending it. Credit: Margie Lee
