So much of the current leftwing Israel/Jew hatred seems to me an intensification of this same dynamic, except now projected onto the entire world stage. Their own purity is what is at stake in both cases.

Racism is no longer something one can run from, but an inexorable fact of your embodied reality as a white person. With White Guilt 2.0, the deep crime of racism evolved beyond the sin itself to denying that your every action is tainted by it. The new way for whites to recapture innocence is therefore to internalize an understanding of yourself as racist, and proclaim that you're inescapably guilty of racism. This allows you to make a scapegoat of heretical whites that continue object to their guilt. Embracing your privilege allows you to shame and exile those that deny it. White Guilt 2.0 is a reinvention of a means for one class of white people to feel superior to another. Like White Guilt 1.0 it's not really about Black people at all. It never was.

There is no equivalence between Trump's one comment and the constant antisemitic ranting on the campuses against Israel after the October 7 genocidal attack on Israel.
