@Mikeggibbs I had a lot of hope that he’d be the one to finally get us out of this Ford mess, but that interview implying voting irregularities was yikes.

Nathan has 3 big strikes against his suitability for leadership: 1. Lost a nomination race. 2. Sore loser. 3. Complained about being left of cabinet by Mark Carney. Those are 3 huge red flags that tell you Nathan is not ready to be leader nor premier. He should spare the party and himself the agony of rejecting him yet again. #onpoli

@AmericanOnline0 @dhaaruni It’s legitimately worse at the office with hearing all the other voices around while you are trying to work and a significantly slower internet connection at the office. I do get to skip the VPN at the office, so there’s 30 seconds saved.

@dhaaruni using a computer in an office or a computer at home to do work and/or go on a Teams meeting makes zero difference except one will be more tired after dicking around commuting to an office. get a grip.

100% remote would have probably lasted longer if people didn’t publicize that they were doing laundry and meal-prepping and walking their dogs during their “work” day. Even accounting for in-office water cooler chat and lunch, most people are still less productive at home!
Nat Purser@NatPurser

talking to young people who wish their jobs were fully remote makes me feel like i’m losing my mind. you’re at the point in life where you could most benefit from in-person relationship and knowledge building … but … you wanna get some errands done,

@intuitivealy @bluewmist I wish my sewing class had a bit of a different focus though. Hemming pants and repairing or replacing zippers are probably the things I need to do the most, but my class had us making an apron from a pattern. (I realize the skills are transferrable but still.)

every school should have a "fix-it lab" where students learn to repair their clothes, bikes and electronics. we should grow up knowing that not everything is disposable, that care and repair are part of living well on this planet.

@ian_heyting @Serenitee_Sam I flew with my child several times when he was under 2 and several times when he was over. We always brought the birth certificate and when he was under 2, they asked for it. Over 2 I don’t think we ever had to show ID for him, which does feel weird.

POV: You thought the “Under 2” free flight rule was a suggestion. Watching this airline supervisor stand her ground is oddly satisfying. If you can’t prove the age, you pay the fare. Period. The way she handled the "call the hospital" bluff? Professionalism at its peak. Southwest really said: “Receipts or a seat."

@Mikeggibbs I was born in the 70s and studied five Shakespeare plays through high school. One would have been plenty. It’s good when I’m watching Jeopardy, I guess.

Okay did I hear this right: Is Shakespeare no longer a requirement in public schools in Ontario? That's what I'm told Is that correct and if so what the HELL is going on.

@jo_alejocarz @fordnation @PaulCalandra This will appoint a phone czar for each school but also require the board to pay for that and give them no additional money to do so. That’s right. I’m in their heads.

If @fordnation and @PaulCalandra ban phones in schools completely, who will police it? Will they appoint a phone czar to each school? It’s logistically impossible. Consequences in schools hold no weight for things far more serious than using a phone.

@ESL_fairy I personally like the term because it sounds more medical/clinical, acknowledging that the child isn’t just “running away.”

Perhaps educators and reporters should stop using the term “elope” with regard to children with Autism who run away. The other meaning of the word (running away to get married) confuses many parents & the general public. I will try harder to use plain language.

This take really doesn’t recognise that a lot of autistic women missed as kids had parents that didn’t want their kids institutionalised and punished their kids into masking. You also underestimate more disabled autistic people. I know those with learning disabilities 1/2

Most of Canadian housing policy is predicated on the idea that seniors will downsize and use that money for retirement. Yet nearly *half* of all households aged 85 and over live in a single-detached or semi-detached home they own.

It would be fun to build a ranked list of "things worth making/cooking/growing/baking" yourself. E.g. It's worth it to grow your own herbs. It is not worth it to grow your own vegetables.

The fake trad housewife bullshit viral video reminds me of the time in high school when I learned how to make my own whipped cream, so for like two weeks straight I would hand whip a huge bowl of cream and just eat that while watching the Simpsons
