@IsaacHayes3 @BrianZisook I saw MC Search saying that Nas got his publishing from illmatic back in 2024 (30 years) is it possible Drake has a similar timeline not advance+irr? Or has the business changed a bunch since the 90’s?

Ok so you should know this. Typically, deals like this have an advance, which I think was $400 million, plus an internal rate of return (IRR) and a time limit. And usually, you can negotiate that once you either reach the internal rate of return and or the time limit, the IP reverts back to the owner. So let’s say the internal rate of return was 15% on $400 million. That means Drake would only have to recoup the $400 million advance plus another $60 million to satisfy the return target. After that, depending on the structure of the deal, he would get his masters back. And I’m telling you if I know this, then Drake and his team definitely know this.

If Drake leaves UMG, his back catalog stays with the label. Every new album he drops, on any label, drives revenue back to music UMG controls. The smarter play isn’t to leave but to negotiate a renewal that includes a path to owning his masters.
Kurrco@Kurrco

Drake reportedly fulfilled his UMG contract with the release of his three new albums, per Hits Daily Double: "And if, as we’re hearing, this troika of albums fulfills Drake’s contract with UMG, it sure feels like a win-win for both parties. The artist’s fabulously successful catalog is said to be remaining with Universal."

The careless decision to reduce our force posture in Europe, along with moves by Pete Hegseth and his political henchmen to force out some of our finest general officers is amateur hour at best and deadly at worst. Hegseth continues to surprise and disrespect our greatest allies and some of our best military professionals with impulsive decisions not grounded in reality or good judgment. If the rumors are true that Hegseth is trying to sideline General Chris Donahue, one of our nation’s finest warfighters, by downgrading U.S. Army Europe-Africa to a 3-star command, he is taking another step down a dangerous path. A step that is not in the best interests of our nation or our servicemembers. General Donahue has dedicated his entire career to upholding the high standards and warrior ethos that Hegseth claims he is restoring to our ranks. Gen. Donahue has led Soldiers at all levels in Airborne (including Ft. Bragg’s 82nd) and Mechanized units, the 75th Ranger Regiment, and our most prestigious special operation units. He deployed over 20 times in support of Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, New Dawn, Inherent Resolve, Atlantic Resolve, Freedom’s Sentinel, European Assure, Deter and Reinforce, and in support of the Sudan crisis. Hegseth would do well to surround himself with more patriots like General Donahue and to get his henchmen, who are not qualified to carry Donahue's bag, out of the Pentagon. Keep your word, Mr. Secretary: choose meritocracy over your mediocre yes-men. notus.org/defense/pentag…

The Seahawks are favorites in 14 of their 17 games. The three games they are underdogs: - Week 12 49ers - Week 15 Eagles - Week 18 Rams One of these things is not like the others...

I took an oath as an officer in the United States Air Force to serve my Commander in Chief. My allegiance to that oath has not wavered in my 28 years of service. The President has endorsed another candidate in CD1 for Congress. It is not congruent with my assignments in life to actively campaign against a candidate endorsed by my Commander in Chief. I am grateful President Trump called and spoke with me personally. He was complimentary of my service to this nation and discussed other opportunities to serve within the administration. Today, I will continue serving this great nation in uniform as a commander in the Oklahoma Air National Guard and serving as the founder and CEO of Folds of Honor. To every volunteer, donor, and patriot who stood with this campaign, thank you. A special thank you to the veterans that supported and encouraged me. Your belief in this mission meant everything. Service never stops, and neither will we.

BREAKING: The US Strategic Petroleum Reserve released last week >1.22 million barrels a day (~8.6 million for the week). That's the largest ever weekly release, surpassing the peak rate seen in 2022 when President Biden tapped the SPR after Russia invaded Ukraine.

#Seahawks Quandre Diggs on coming back to Seattle and that journey: "I watched everything. I always watched Seattle games. I kept up with the guys. It was like I never left the locker room. Mo Kelly, I thought of Mo Kelly every week. I've seen these guys have injuries in the safety room. And I was like, "Hey man, I would love to go back home. But I never wanted to leave off the jump. Coby Bryant is literally like my little brother. I talk to myself about two to three times a week. And he is like, "Bruh, come back, come back." And I am like, "Ahh, I got to wait and see." Then Lock [Tyler Lockett] left Tennessee. Then, when Lock left, it was like, "Dang." That was another reason I went back [Seattle]. "Opportunity came about. We were on a bye week. I didn't see things going too much. We didn't really have anything to play for. They started trading guys away. It was one of those things I told my agent, "Hey, I would rather be done. Can they find a way to get me released?" Obviously, I had to pay back some money and all that other stuff. At that point? It didn't matter to me. I just wanted the opportunity to win. A couple of teams tried to get me to come, literally, "We are going to claim you off waivers," and I am like, "Nah, nah! Don't do that." These were playoff-caliber teams. These guys made the playoffs, all these teams. I am like, "Don't do that." I remember talking to John [Schneider], "Hey, I am cool coming back. I am willing to accept any role given to me." I ain't coming here to be the main guy. I am not trying to be the main guy. If anyone follows me? It has never been about me in the first place. I've always wanted to play ball with the guys. That is all that matters to me. It took a couple of weeks, a couple of weeks longer than I expected. When it happened, it was surreal. I remember telling my wife, and I remember this CLEARLY. The day it ended up happening was before I flew out the next day. I remember that Philly called me, "Hey, we need you to come in and play on Friday." Then I was like, "I'll give you guys a call back." I ended up getting in touch with Seattle, and I was like, "Hey, this is what Philly is trying to do." [And Seattle basically got him, duh]. I came in and got with the coaches. "I already had a relationship with Mike [Macdonald] before I got released. Mike and I had a couple of different conversations for 45 minutes or so; we were just talking about the ball and so on. We could see things the same way. Talk the same language. It was a money thing. At this point? John and I talked about it. I wish, and he wishes, that we would just have a conversation about the money situation. Trying to figure out a pay cut where it works for both parties, so that we don't have to go through that. Looking back at that? I wish we did, but at the same time. It gave Coby [Bryant] an opportunity to step into the light and show the world who he was. For me? It was a win-win, wouldn't say it as a "win-win." But Coby got an opportunity, and that made me excited. It ended up working out. When I got there? Teams were still trying to sign me off the practice squad, and I am like, "NO, bro. I'm not going. I am here." I would tell John every week, "Hey John, so and so is trying to sign me, but I'm not going." And he would be, "Bro, I appreciate you so much." And I just want to be part of something special." via HawkBlogger

@tkwg0 @AustinArnettMMA @SamiOnTap It also says their personal income. Most of these guys don’t own a team because it makes them money. They already have a ton, usually with something else still making money for them. They own a team because of the prestige and to be part of those exclusive clubs.

I think there is a simple reason the Seahawks aren't drawing a lot of interest.... The price of NFL teams are inflated to a point where it might not make sense anymore. Paul Allen bought the Seahawks for $194M... Thats a lot different than buying a team for $7-$10 BILLION.
Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter

The Seahawks are expected to set a record for a price paid for an NFL franchise, but the sale of the team is drawing softer-than-expected interest, per @SethWickersham. espn.com/nfl/story/_/id…

@hawkmania4 I don’t think Mike and the other coaches give a damn about draft capital invested and whomever looks better is going to get the reps.

Ben Solak wrote this in his article about the #Seahawks Anthony Bradford being on the hot seat and Beau Stephens could replace him: "The Seahawks got by with Bradford last season and did not invest early or aggressively in the position during the draft. But eventually they did make a move, with Iowa guard Beau Stephens in the fifth round. That draft capital is insufficient for Stephens to immediately see first-team reps during training camp, so Bradford's job is likely safe for Week 1. But if he continues to be the weak link in an otherwise solid O-line, the Seahawks will look into playing the rookie."
