@kentcdodds im very much MCP pilled. And im noticing I… detest(?) MCPs that do too much AI after the tool call. I want all the intelligence inside the Claude instance that’s knows me or sees the code base.

I find giving agents job titles is LARPing.
A CMO is not a content spam bot. A CEO is not a workflow for moving tasks around on a board.
These are just software tools and workflows. They work the same without the titles.

As agents become the highest volume users of software in the future, a lot is going to become critical to support for them to be effective.
Agents need to be able to signup for your tool on their own, have their own scoped access controls, be able to use your entire system through API/CLI, be able to be billed for their usage, need a computer and filesystem to use, and much more.
We’re going to evolve from building primarily for the human user, with APIs as a means to get that data or tool in another platform, to a world where the API becomes the core source of truth actions. Any software that can’t support this basically won’t exist to agents.

Even the best developer tools mostly still don't let you sign up for an account via API. This is a big miss in the claude code age because it means that claude can't sign up on its own. Putting all your account management functions in your API should be tablestakes now.

These days part of the reason people are so burned out and tired and overwhelmed is that trust got eviscerated.
People don’t trust what they see , they don’t trust the news, they don’t trust government , they don’t trust reviews , they don’t trust emails. Etc etc
These days it dawned on me the last 5 things I bought online were all semi scams
I get scams via email and text all day, I get invited to crypto trading calls as direct calendar invites.
Every time I ask ChatGPT what’s the matter with my dog , it gives bullshit advice to go to the vet asap. Every time I ask it advice for a plant , it’s wrong
To be alive today is to accept that almost everything accidentally seems like a lie and 25% of your brain all day long is trying to verify the truth. First it was the internet , then it was the incentives and now it’s AI making the whole world feel questionable
