One of the biggest limiters to EV sales lies in the engineering - not customer focused - names given to powertrains. In other news, this wonderful @Hyundai goes back on Tuesday. I’d say it has changed my whole perception of what a hot hatch should be. Old gits like me thought a 1990 16v Golf was THE one to have. IONIQ 5N has thrown the book away and brought us in to the 21st century. This is THE best modern hatch I’ve driven. And it has confused me so much because everything else I’ve experienced seems comparatively mediocre.

@AutoPap @Shell You just need to plan your route so that you charge at somewhere that won't rip you off. I drive about 27k miles per year and I haven't charged at an oil company in 3 years. I rarely pay above 45p per kWh. When I do it's usually because I've f**ked up.

Had 42 miles range left so went to top up. 10 mins to get 100 extra miles BUT it cost a whopping £28.61 @Shell How are they allowed to rip people off like this? Just proves you have to have a home charger to own an EV.

Estate/Kombi/Wagon under £2,000 baring in mind I have trade access too. 2006> Petrol, ideally Automatic and high spec, leather seats, sunroof, Xenon’s etc. Bit of a laugh with decent power. Runaround/Spare car, thinking these are some options: - B8 Audi A4 Avant 1.8/2.0 TFSI - E91 BMW 320/325i Touring (Hard to find in higher specs) - MK3 Ford Mondeo Titanium X Sport 2.0 EcoBoost Powershift (Had 2 MK3’s, 2.0 TDCI & 2.5T. Both EcoBoost engine and Powershift gearbox are quite blowy-uppy but good when they work correctly 😬) - Jaguar X-Type 3.0 V6 Sovereign Estate - W211 Mercedes-Benz E200/280 Estate (Petrols are rarer) - Renault Laguna 2.0T GT/Initiate Estate (Petrols in these spec are very hard to come by) - Saab 9-3 Aero Estate 2.0/2.8T - Skoda Octavia VRS 2.0 TFSI Estate - Subaru Legacy 2.5/3.0i (Ideally Spec B either as a normal Estate or Outback) - Vauxhall Vectra Elite Estate 2.8T (Found a mental spec one in the trade 🤷‍♂️) - VW Passat 2.0 TSI or 3.2 V6 Estate DSG (Again, rare but findable) - Volvo V70/XC70 2.5T (Unlikely to find a decent one but mega cars!) Am I missing any you can think of?

@ListerLawrence Can you name three other small EVs you genuine sympathies to? I can’t. Renault really found the sweet spot. All they need to do now is put a 1.6T / 2.0 NA 4 pot engine in it and call it R5 Turbo. Who is buying one? I am.

I fantasise about my wife of 25 years dying. Time to my self. Drink what I want. Live the life. Do what I want. She went away for a week with her girlfriends. I was so bored and lonely it was unreal. I hope I die first.

@lakes_eco_van @lee_marshall @KateFantom @Saicmaxus_uk OK, but it's not like he bought the diesel one and ripped the drive train out and DIY'D a conversion in. It's a factory fitted electric drivetrain with manufacturer supported warranty and all the usual things right?

I’ve got this @Saicmaxus_uk ED7 for the next week. Loads of power, decent range of 260+ miles in this weather and it is lovely to drive. The real beauty is, I can travel 200 miles for under £5 👌🏼 I should get through 600-800 miles so let’s see how it holds up.

@timoldland The thing is, I do see Manthey RSs on trackdays reasonably regularly. Although like any GT3RS, they are way too quick for your average OPL track day.
