@rfkenmore I’ve seen maybe 5 vintage stripe tees out of the thousands we’ve sold that I’d consider wearing - most of the patterns suck.

Been thinking about this a lot as summer evolves Should men wear horizontal stripes? I can see the rugby or the classic Breton from armourlux or st James… But something about a striped tee like these just doesn’t seem right

@levistype1 There are other more accessible day hike routes too. We camped about 1/3rd the way in, so carrying food fuel tents & whatnot added to the haul

I own a cool customized Royal Enfield motorcycle office. Rode it daily, but now its art in my office as I live in NYC. The green one is mine. The red one is what it looked like before customzing. I love Royal Enfield motos, in part, because its the world’s oldest motorcycle brand in continuous production. The story behind it: - Royal Enfield was launched in 1901 in England In 2000, the company was bleeding cash, selling only 25,000 bikes a year - Enter 26-year-old CEO Siddhartha Lal, a cool Indian entrepreneur who’s father started a big car co in Indian. He bought the business. - Royal Enfield was a conglomerate stretched thin across 15 different businesses, including tractors, garments, and footwear. Lal realized they were mediocre at everything. - So, he divested 13 of those 15 businesses, putting all his chips on a cool but broken motorcycle brand. - Doubled down on heavy, retro, premium machinery while competitors were building cheap, plastic commuter bikes - Now they sell close to 1 million bikes a year, dominating the global mid-sized market. - I bought mine for like $5k or $6k. They're cheap and high value. (then i spent more customizing) - Like most British vehicles...the mechanic were eh. But now these things are bullet proof. I know I have a lot of Indian followers. These things are everywhere there. Super cool.

New hire. He’s in his 50s. Says he needs money desperately so he can pay for his daughter’s college tuition in the Fall. Not a perfect fit, but we are busy and the foreman agrees to give him a shot. It’s been two weeks. He leaves work early in the middle of the day twice the first week. Last week he claims he tweaked his back on Sunday and can’t work for 3 days. Today he texts me asking for a raise that would take his income above every bag operator that works at the company, including those that have been with the company for over a decade. I said no. He’s not happy he claims. None of this is surprising or stressful. I deal with this all the time. This is stuff that is never in the CIMs of small businesses for sale that wear on owners over the years.

I have friends a bit older than me. By any stretch of the imagination, set for life. Made a few million dollars. Then stop achieving after 25 years of working. I didn't get it before. I get it now. At a certain point, it isn't worth the stress.

@DadInvest @girdley Morgan Housel sums it up well in psychology of money. If you felt like you had enough in your youth then you’re that way forever, and if you felt you didn’t have enough then you will never have enough. Great book with many good points on the subject

@girdley Why do you think that is? Is it some sort of nirvana? Have they reached some inner peace where they have enough? If so, could you ask them what that feels like? Because I never feel like I’ll ever be enough.

Ghurka does a really nice job shooting their product for ecomm. The dimensionality and texture they capture in standard PDP photos reads premium — almost sculptural. Even if I’d still have a really hard time paying $1,500 for a briefcase.
