In the short run, the industry may declare victory due to the convictions. But their "victory" is Pyrrhic. 🚨 Huge news from the Faroe Islands 🚨 The grind that took place on the first of June 2024 in Hvannasund has now led to animal cruelty charges against the former grind sheriff! 🇫🇴 During this grind, a local festival was underway and this is likely why more than ninety surviving whales were kept in shallow water, even though Faroese law clearly states that any whale that is not killed cannot be left on shallow ground. For 27 hours our crew documented everything repeated distress calls confused movements and multiple beachings. Only after more than 27 hours of trauma did the surviving whales finally reach deeper waters again. 📄 All evidence was submitted to the authorities thanks to our campaign leader Valentina Crast and the team present on the islands at that moment. Today this documentation has resulted in a major breakthrough. 🔥 No grind will take place in the Northern Isles until the police report is resolved.
