One thing I miss about the 90s and 2000s and the part of the 2010s is that every 2 years tech just got better. Games looked remarkably better, the systems you would buy would be significantly better. Honestly at this point I can barely tell the difference, performance wise, for the last 5 years.

This perfectly illustrates why AI safety must be at the ecosystem level, not (just) at the individual model level. There are open weight models. They can be jailbroken. The AI genies are out of the bottle. No matter how safe your model is, there will be malicious actors who'll use a less-restricted model. The ultimate path to AI safety is to use AI to proactively identify vulnerabilities and put systems in place to monitor them, fix them, defend them, or be prepared to react to attacks.

Logically it makes no sense no matter how many times mathematicians say it. I refuse to accept it. By calling something infinitely long, you cannot then just claim it's 1 because you can never infinitely end it... It's ridiculous and shows faulty logic in accepting round-off as equals.

I experienced the opposite of this, people telling me there was no way Flavio had any chance. But the way I think of Brazil politics is American politics on Brazilian time and more drama. The narrative potential here was just too strong and similar to the Trump arc. Your case for Freitas was sensible though, no reason to apologize.
