There are more than 3,500 children and youth living in the Tenderloin who face unsafe streets, drug activity, overdoses, and violence. For too long, they’ve been invisible in conversations about this neighborhood, but today, we’re changing that. We’re launching a Youth Violence Prevention Pilot Program that will provide mentorship, violence intervention, and structured programming for up to 20 youth and transitional-aged youth (ages 12–24). This program is about giving our young people a real chance at life — a chance to grow up, to dream, and to thrive in safety. Every young person in the Tenderloin deserves that. Thank you to Mayor @DanielLurie’s office, @UP4LIFE, TLCBD, and @SF_DCYF for your partnership and commitment to this important initiative.

The data is clear: in the Bayview, youth violence prevention programs cut violent crime by 50%. That’s not just a stat — that’s lives saved. The Tenderloin deserves the same chance. It’s time to launch a TL Youth Violence Prevention Program.

What is shortsighted is that they are no longer going to build "the box" that would go on top of the MUNI maintenance yard, part of the project. This is the structure that was to support hundreds of units of housing. Smart move would be to do the work for the yard and the box then in, 4, 5, 10 years build the housing when funds are available.

FCI DUBLIN BY THE NUMBERS: 10 former correctional officers at the now-closed FCI Dublin have been charged with sex crimes. 9 are guilty. The remaining officer has not been found guilty after a jury deadlocked twice while deliberating on his case. ktvu.com/news/mistrial-…

Until now, San Francisco has had nine different teams responding to the crisis on our streets. And still, every San Franciscan—including myself—has walked by someone suffering and wished they could do more. Today, we are launching a new integrated neighborhood street team model that will help us do more—together. Starting today, those nine teams will become one unified system. Each team will know the people they’re helping by name. Each team will be responsible for helping these individuals on their journey from the street to treatment, housing, or back to loved ones. Our goal is to give people a better, more humane option than being on the street, whether that’s a shelter bed or a treatment center. And, for those unwilling to accept help, we can no longer allow them to cause disorder on our sidewalks, at a MUNI bus stop, or in our parks. San Francisco will once again be a place where we enforce our laws and ensure public spaces remain available for everyone. Here are the key reforms: ✅ We are consolidating 9 teams into 5 tightly knit neighborhood-based units—plus a 6th citywide team. These teams will handle outreach and will be responsible for enforcing sit/lie laws and ADA requirements. ✅ Each team will work with individuals who are experiencing chronic homelessness or acute behavioral health issues. ✅ Each team will be led by a Department of Emergency Management team conductor who will coordinate city services, law enforcement, and community input—making sure everyone is moving together. ✅ While neighborhood teams focus on their assigned areas, the citywide team will deploy to hotspots—addressing displacement issues before they grow and supporting urgent responses across the city. If you’re a business owner, if you’re a resident, you’ll see change. And if you’re someone who needs care on the street, you won’t be passed from one team to the next—you’ll get help from a team that is deeply knit into the community. San Franciscans voted for accountability. San Franciscans voted for change. This is both. I want to thank every single person from our departments—across @SFPD, @SFFDPIO, @SheriffSF, @sfpublicworks, @SF_DPH, @SFHumanServices, and @SF_emergency—who has helped shape this.
