It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of the Senior Presidential Advisor and Chairperson of NRM Kayunga District, Moses Karangwa Kalisa, following a tragic accident. He was a valued member of our mighty party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM), and he will be remembered for his loyalty to the party. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

We have witnessed the obscene accumulation of wealth - cars, mansions, designer clothes, lavish parties, and the brazen use of money to buy political power. financed through Parliament’s own budget, with the active complicity of many MPs. Parliaments are meant to guard the public purse and to hold governments accountable. Ours has become a den of thieves, no longer a House of the People. It is time to restructure Parliament, reduce its size and cost, tighten financial controls, and restore public trust.

Let these past few days teach every oppressive, corrupt, authoritarian ruler that because people are quiet about your crimes or even singing praises for you, it does not mean they're not seeing your crimes or that they're stupid. Many do it out of fear, resignation, or selfishness (need to survive). Who knew that only one week later, some MPs who have been campaigning and making endorsement videos are now on TVs exposing some of the crimes we didn't even know about?

@SpireJim An elite of your caliber would know that the actual stealing is with executive not other branches. A parliament that can not even alter a single digit allocated u want to suggest that it has a role. Be more analytical, and focus the country to the actual problem

With all the money stolen and spent extravagantly without any controls in institutions such as Parliament, why should government continue borrowing money in the name of citizens - money that will take generations to pay!!!

Jealous pple ve used insults, defamatory statements, blackmail and endless negative criticism against @AnitahAmong, but none of that reduces her chances of being re-elected Speaker of @Parliament_Ug Instead, it has only proved that she is a strong, resilient and determined woman.

"But... but... Bruno isn't playing in Europe" Neither was N'Golo Kante when he won PFA Player of The Year with Chelsea in 2016/17, neither was Riyad Mahrez in 2015/16 or Luis Suarez in 2013/14. Exceptional performance is exceptional performance.

If you were honest enough, you would first thank the National Unity Platform and the people of Masaka for trusting you with the opportunity to represent them in Parliament of Uganda. Unfortunately, many still remember how you went ahead and pocketed the 500 million instead of standing firmly with the people who believed in you.

I addressed my colleagues from the Eastern Africa Regional Parliamentary Group of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS-EU) at the ongoing meetings in Eswatini, ahead of the OACPS–EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly this week. As the OACPS president and co-president of OACPS-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly, I raised several issues that must be placed on the agenda and shared guidance on how to handle these negotiations. One of the key issues I raised is the need to demand respect for African countries from our EU counterparts. For instance, Uganda recently held elections that were free, fair, and successful. However, the European Parliament summoned Uganda’s Ambassador over the election; this was not right, and we rejected it. A similar situation occurred with Tanzania. In our engagements with EU colleagues, we will be seeking firm guarantees that such incidents will not happen again. Previously, the European Parliament passed a resolution seeking to halt the construction of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline. We opposed it strongly, and the resolution was later rescinded during an OACPS meeting in Maputo. This demonstrates the value of standing firm for Africa’s sovereignity. I also told my colleagues that we must unite around clear and strategic priorities to strengthen our collective voice in global negotiations. As legislators, we must assert our oversight role to ensure agreements deliver tangible benefits to our citizens. We must fully leverage the African Continental Free Trade Area while addressing non-tariff barriers that continue to limit access to key markets, and push for improved access to EU markets. I called for transparency and accountability in climate financing commitments, and for partnerships grounded in mutual respect. For colleagues participating for the first time, I urged them to read all documents thoroughly and understand every detail, even down to a comma, so that we can negotiate from a position of strength.
