I am honored to be part of gender transformative leadership in global health dialogue at #AHAIC2025 . "While the journeys of women leaders in health may vary, they collectively demystify stereotypes, inspire, and empower more young women to pursue leadership roles."

Heroes walk among us! 🏆✨ --------------- Yesterday at the Africa Health Agenda International Conference (AHAIC) 2025 in #Kigali,#Rwanda, Vedastina Vedasto Shumbusho, a Community Health Worker from #Kagera region in #Tanzania, received a standing ovation as she was honored with the Women in Global Health Africa award! 🌍👏🏽 Her quick action in reporting an unknown disease outbreak in 2023 led to the successful containment of #Marburg disease, saving thousands of lives. 🙌🏽💙 She dedicates this award to all #CHWs across Africa who work tirelessly to protect their communities. 💪🏽🔥 Vedastina was trained by @AmrefTanzania in collaboration with @wizara_afyatz through the U.S. @CDCTanzania - funded Global Health Security project on Community Event-Based Surveillance (EBS) in 2021. Congratulations, Vedastina! Your bravery and dedication inspire us all. 🇹🇿🎉 #HealthHeroes #WomenInGlobalHealth #CommunityImpact #ConnectedForChange #AHAIC2025

Amref Health Africa in Kenya@Amref_Kenya

Today, @AmrefICD hosted a joint co-creation workshop for the Partnership for Education of Health Professionals (PEP) project. This workshop sets the stage for the next phase of PEP’s upscaling from Kenya to Ethiopia, Uganda, and Tanzania, ensuring that the region’s health workforce is equipped to meet community health needs, with a strong focus on Cardiometabolic Diseases (CMDs). The project aims to leverage on strategic partnerships towards curriculum enhancements, and innovative learning approaches to build a sustainable model that will strengthen health education, workforce capacity, and equitable access to #CMD prevention and care across East Africa. A big thank you to our lead partners @novonordiskfond for their commitment to co-creating solutions that will shape the future of healthcare in the region! #PEP @Amref_Worldwide

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Campaign has reached an end, but our resolve remains stronger than ever! Proud to have joined @UZIKWASA @FeminaHip @IUCN @bbcmediaaction in Pangani for this year’s campaign. This marked a milestone for @AmrefTanzania as we participated for the first time under the Afya Himilivu Project, supported by @IrlEmbTanzania aimed at improving health & nutrition for women & children through climate-resilient primary healthcare systems. Ending GBV is central to building healthier, more resilient communities. Let’s keep working together to create inclusive systems where no woman or girl is left behind.

It’s World AMR Awareness Week! Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) happens when disease-causing microorganisms evolve and no longer respond to medicines, making infections harder or impossible to treat. These microorganisms include viruses, fungi, bacteria and parasites that can cause diseases such as HIV, pneumonia, tuberculosis and malaria among others. According to @WHO, AMR is directly responsible for 1.27 million deaths and contributed to 5 million deaths in 2019 due to resistant infections. This week we will raise awareness, discuss best practices, and engage the public, on various subjects relating to #AMR. #AntimicrobialResistance #WAAW #GlobalHealthSecurity @WHOAFRO @AfricaCDC @CDCgov

It was an honour to moderate a dynamic high-level panel at the inaugural Tanzania One Health Conference! Senior leaders from the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, FAO, WHO, and the Prime Minister's Office One Health Section came together for an engaging discussion on tackling shared challenges through a One Health approach. We dove deep into practical strategies for bridging human, animal, and environmental health sectors, crafting resilient policies, and aligning Tanzania’s priorities with global standards. The conversation was packed with bold ideas and actionable insights to drive sustainable health security and position Tanzania as a leader in the One Health movement. #OneHealth #AfyaMojaPamoja #TOHC2024
