@NCResq @nikitabier @benjitaylor Hierarchically likes are classified as interaction with other’s content, just like bookmarks. Whereas profile has content you share and the tabs there organise them. Liking used to be akin to sharing earlier but with likes being private now, this new organisation makes sense

Hi @nikitabier / @benjitaylor curious to understand what’s the rationale of the UX change.. I don’t love that likes is now hidden behind an extra sidebar item as opposed to being a first class citizen on profile

Let's calculate because I'm not a lockdown kid and also I can get slab rates from internet and do basic calculations. Consider a person earning 12L in 2014, paying rent 2.5L and 80C limit at 1L, 80D 15K, 80EE 1L, 80CCG 50K all in per year basis. Now if your remove all deduction and expemption, his taxable income based on last Budget by Manmohan Singh Govt would be 7.7L on which he would be paying 86.5K as tax. Now since we are in 2026, let's consider a generous inflation of 7%, although home, medical and education inflation is more than 10%. Now same person would be earning 27L inflation adjusted salary. Let's calculate the tax in 2026 - On 27L salary based on "highly relaxed" tax structure by Modi Govt he would be paying 3.8L income tax in new regime. So basically we are paying 4times tax on a 2 times increase in salary. PS: I usually ignore such post but today I spent 30 mins to do all the calculation because this myth that "No tax upto 12L" needs to busted.

Wait, that #AppleTV brand mark and swivel motion as seen in their new sonic logo (see left) is NOT computer-generated? Turns out the whole thing was made with real glass, using real lights and swivels, captured by humans behind real cameras. It’s such a delight to learn about this detail. Makes you see this work in a whole new light now? Props to #Apple’s agency TBWA\Media Arts Lab and to everyone who partnered with them on this. Great work. Craft matters. It always has. And always will. New Sonic Logo Behind The Scenes

Me 6 years ago 🤩: “wow this looks dope + users will notice stories more and view them. win win!” Me after working in social for 6 years🥴: “This is never going to ship. The height of the rectangles will push down the rest of the feed causing a regression in view time of the feed and ultimately revenue from ads + showing the content top level in the thumbnails will cause users to be more selective in what they view leading to a regression in overall story view time and ultimately revenue. lose lose!”

Exploring an Instagram UI concept. What if the Instagram Story Bar has rectangular shape, matching the aspect ratio of the stories themselves? Also having stack as a hint when the story has multiple slides. 👀

Super apps don’t work in India, and the reasons are simpler (and deeper) than most people think. Every few years, someone decides India is “ready” for a super app. Billions are spent bundling payments, shopping, food, and social into one shiny icon. And every few years, it… doesn’t work. Here’s (my gauge on) why. 1. We’re a low-trust society. We like buckets. We like separation. We don’t want one app to know everything, where we eat, how we pay, what we buy, what we owe. Our default setting is risk distribution: one app for groceries, one for payments, one for movies, one for travel. It’s the same instinct that makes us have five bank accounts, three insurance policies, and two astrologers on call. A super app thrives on trust convergence. When users believe one platform can handle their entire digital life safely and seamlessly. India’s digital economy, for all its scale, doesn’t have that convergence yet. We’re still in the stage of selective delegation: “I’ll trust you with this, but not that." 2. Language kills uniformity. WeChat works in China because almost the entire country speaks Mandarin, and the digital ecosystem is centralized. In India, we have more than a dozen major languages, and each carries its own syntax, humor, and emotional texture. A single app trying to serve them all ends up fragmented, bloated, and inconsistent. Even UI choices vary; fonts, icons, even color perception change with region and language. You can’t design a seamless ecosystem for a market that speaks in literal and cultural dialects 3. And the reason no one likes to admit: our openness kills monopoly. China’s super app model was built under a walled garden. Everything inside, nothing outside. India’s internet is the opposite. UPI’s interoperability makes sure no single player owns the rails. You can pay anyone, anywhere, through any app. That’s the beauty (and the curse) of our ecosystem. So no, India doesn’t need a super app. I also think it's a fool's errand to try and build one. We already have something better: a super stack. Modular, interoperable, and multilingual. We don’t want one pedestal. We want a bustling bazaar- noisy, alive, explorable. And maybe that’s exactly what progress looks like here.

Unpopular opinion but Jugaad is probably the worst thing to exist. It traded short-term thinking for absolving any long-term responsibility and gave a cultural license of a chalta hai attitude to an entire country.
