Talarico, who dominated his Democratic primary, proudly eats barbecue and isn’t vegan, but as his team put it with a wink, “true love conquers all.” The pair met when Menard worked as his chief of staff in 2022 and started dating in early 2023. Talarico has called her “my rock” and “my best friend,” crediting her support through the primary campaign. This isn’t some random fling, it’s a picture-perfect Democratic power duo with real values. While MAGA clutches pearls over barbecue, pronouns, and plant-based diets, Talarico is out here building a winning coalition and showing what authentic Texas leadership looks like. Republicans just aren’t getting any more traction with their tired culture war nonsense. Democrats have substance, and apparently great taste in partners who actually care about people. Texas is turning blue, one Talafreako at a time, lol. James Talarico, you can’t claim to love your neighbor while supporting abortion, gender ideology that harms children, open-border policies that endanger Americans, or progressive justice policies that put violent offenders back on the streets. You can’t love your neighbor while affirming sin, denying biblical truth, or preaching a gospel contrary to Christ. The people harmed by these policies are your neighbors too. You are an insult to Christianity. Your beliefs are an affront to the Imago Dei and I look forward to Texans showing you out of politics in November and hopefully you are shown out of the pulpit as well.

Rep. Ilhan Omar is officially seeking another term in Congress. The Minnesota Democrat has filed paperwork to run again, as a separate debate over who can serve in federal office is picking up steam on Capitol Hill. Rep. Nancy Mace is currently pushing a constitutional amendment that would require members of Congress, federal judges, and Senate-confirmed appointees to be natural-born U.S. citizens. The proposal faces a steep path forward, but it's already drawing attention as Omar prepares for another campaign. Mace directly accused Omar of "foreign allegiance" when discussing her proposal.

James Talarico is the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate. He’s been in the news a lot lately. Back in 2021, during a Texas House debate on a bill about transgender athletes in women’s sports, he said on the floor, “God is both masculine and feminine and everything in between. God is non-binary,” and added that “trans children are God’s children, made in God’s own image.” He’s a Presbyterian seminarian, so he frames a lot of his arguments through faith, basically arguing God transcends human gender categories. He’s catching heat for it now from Republicans like Ken Paxton, who’s his opponent in November. Talarico’s called the old clip “cringey” and “deliberately provocative,” and says he’s walked some of it back, that you can’t really pin human labels on God. He’s got a bunch of other hot takes too, like claiming science shows six biological sexes and defending abortion with Bible references. His woke ideology is not popular in Texas.
