Share with the public your real world experience (or the lack thereof). Icom IC-7300 Mk2 running SSB on 17 meters. I reduced output power and turned on speech compression. Running voice compression made a bigger difference at lower output power than raising output to e.g., 50 watts. #oh8stn #icomic7300mk2 #hamradio

@POTAActivator @wyomingsurvival I immediately knew you didn't know 😉 Your answer does solve a different and important problem. What you described is analysis, not messaging. I've covered this year's ago. I only put it aside because it has little value in real-time disaster comms.

@OH8STN @wyomingsurvival I didn't know the context of your original post was a grid-down disaster. So point taken. But for the record, our intel agencies are are doing what I stated in real time against real targets - not training ops.

I've tried and tried to learn code..... Just can't get it.

However, real people, in a real-life grid-down disaster, are not spending time or resources recording a frequency, which might, maybe sometime, sending out a Morse message. That workflow will fail for real people in a real disaster.

@wyomingsurvival I had a long reply typed out about the 7300mk2 and accidentally deleted it. So instead, I’ll just say that you should get one. My first impression is that it kicks ass.

All the glory shouldn't go to @Israel . They wouldn't have gotten as far as it did were it not for the help of the @USNavy who obeyed the illegal order from the White House recalling aircraft while we were still under attack and calling for help. Obeying that illegal order allowed the torpedo attack to be executed absent the threat of Sixth Fleet intervention. It also directly led to the death of 25 of our shipmates killed by the torpedo. And to the @IDF removing any chance we would survive the sinking of our ship by its deliberately machine-gunning of life rafts we had dropped over the side in anticipation of abandoning ship. Not to mention the fact that we have members of Congress during and since the attack to thank for the blood of our fallen shipmates being used in an outrageous and insulting manner almost 60 years after the attack. So, thanks @RepDonBacon . You and your colleagues, along with the lies you tell about the attack on our ship (even to us), are the reason we are now more determined than ever to ensure the truth about the attack and the betrayal we have suffered from Congress and the Department of Defense is honestly recorded in the annals of the US government. And to think, @RepDonBacon, none of this would happen; the attack would be a distant memory, if only members of Congress had investigated as they did for every other post-WWII attack on a @USNavy ship. Tell us, @RepDonBacon, what is it about the attack on our ship that compels you to allow it to be conducted with impunity and without remorse?
