@gleb_alexandrov I argue that VR is more accesible. This needs a webcam of some sort. A VR headset is ready to go and comes with everything needed .. they almost nailed it with the Quest 3.

How this technology hasn't yet made its way into mainstream games? In some ways its WAY more accessible vr.

@girldrawsghosts they aimed for the wrong people, like apple did with its VR thing. so it tanks. Quest is an excellent gaming device, but too clunky for actual producitve work. give it time. not sure where they dumped all that money tho.

Exipelago had lots of downloads for the demo .. but most of it was bots for unknown reasons .. it's really hard to justify to maintain a demo version

@uncensoredjose @bindureddy Scrolling past is a bad measurement . not everything is clearly visible that quick to scroll past, often you have to read it to know that you disagree .. which then gives the wrong signal.
dislike should mean: show me less of this.

This reaction is understandable.
But it’s the wrong read.
A dislike button doesn’t kill contrarian content.
It actually protects it.
Right now the only negative signal the algorithm has is the scroll past.
A dislike at least tells X someone engaged enough to react.
Engagement is engagement.
The accounts that should be worried aren’t the contrarian ones.
They’re the boring ones that generate neither likes nor dislikes.
Invisible content is the real trust score killer.
Not controversial content.
Controversy creates dwell time.
Dwell time builds trust scores.
The dislike button might be the best thing that ever happened to contrarian creators.

The Verge has lost its way.
Several months ago, they interviewed me for 45 minutes about Apple Vision Pro. I spent 43 minutes talking about what I love, and 2 minutes on what I’d change.
They twisted parts of those 2 minutes and cut everything positive I said.
To make it worse, the author opened the interview by saying they were biased against headsets.
I miss the old Verge. The one that was fun. The one that spotlighted tech instead of throwing shade.

There is a reason why Waymos only operate in very large cities with low latency 5G network coverage. It’s because they are still mostly driven by remote human drivers.
