Indie games are great and I'm glad there's a big indie scene but I think people forget how many indie games are being released constantly. Only a small % of them end up being hits.
This isn't a defence of AAA game slop. Just pointing out there's more indies than AAA studios.

what blows my mind is that manufacturers like sharp actually have the ability to seamlessly embed displays into natural surfaces that completely disappear when not emitting light, and yet, no one has utilized this commercially yet, this should be a phone

@reitinet @thepanta82 Though you're correct about the crappiness of USB which somehow prevailed over firewire, the OS could easily work around the polling limitation.
I simply don't recall this ever happening in Windows 7.

@4SigmaSmarter @thepanta82 it happened - all you need to do is exhaust the USB bandwidth or controller. This is just how USB works a shared controller that needs to be polled by the OS - if something is busy .. it's busy, no polling happens.
PS/2 is different as its interrupt driven. 1/2

Unpopular opinion: This is a party trick and won’t be used much because the infrastructure to deliver 1.5 MW is expensive.
Having ubiquitous, reliable charging is a lot more important than cutting the charge time from 15 minutes to 5 minutes.

Ironically, as chip cooling improved, power consumption went up. This led to bigger batteries, making devices heavier rather than light, small, and low-power.
Even smartphones and Nintendo consoles have become huge and bulky now.

@0ba0sama AAA games are priced for discounts. the 40% discount price is the actuall price - the normal price is just higher. so they can ride every discount from day one. Never realized that?

VR hasn't been a luxury since Quest came out. I'm still amazed at how many people don't understand that a full VR console is available for $300, making it hundreds of dollars less than anything else.

Do you think VR is still a luxury thing? Back in 2016–2018, VR was an enthusiast, tech-savvy niche. It required thousands of dollars’ worth of gear. Prices have obviously gone down, the Quest reshaped the industry and all that, but do you think VR has moved out of the luxury entertainment category, or is it still more of an “ah, so you have money, huh?” thing?

@hardwarecanucks I think some people totally ignored the "windows laptop space" for the last 2 decades.
but well. same people can't "Cut File" with their OS and have to manually copy and delete afterwards - or fiddle around to arrange 2 windows side by side to drag it.

USB A are cheap, and very robust. People who are obsessed with USB C never want to address the fact that it's a really fragile connector, nowhere near as bad Micro USB but in no world a replacement for USB A.
