On this Vaisakhi and Khalsa Sajna Diwas, I’m proud to extend my warmest wishes to the Sikh community in the Central Valley and around the world. May this sacred occasion inspire reflection on the enduring values of service, equality, courage, and justice. Today, we honor the many contributions of Sikh Americans and stand with you in celebrating this rich faith and tradition.

During this Child Abuse Prevention Month, it was helpful to meet with the Tulare County Child Abuse Prevention Council. We spoke about their work in our community and upcoming programming to address child abuse and neglect. I appreciate their hard work to create supportive environments for Central Valley children and families.

I had a great time touring the Porterville College Allied Health building yesterday! During my time there, I spoke with administrators about their registered nursing, psychiatric technology, and EMT programs offered on campus. It's great to see so many programs dedicated to preparing local students for careers in our healthcare sector.

This week, I visited the Sequoia Riverlands Trust to tour the Capinero Creek Pixley Restoration site. While there, I spoke with staff and local agency partners about their ongoing efforts to conserve land and water resources across our state. It's my priority to protect the agricultural legacy of California’s heartlands, and it’s inspiring to see that mission in action.

I’m deeply saddened to hear about the tragic shooting involving one of our Tulare County law enforcement officers. This senseless act of violence has no place in our community, and I’m hopeful the suspect will be swiftly apprehended and held accountable. It was great to have the opportunity to tour the Granite Construction asphalt plant this week. While there, I spoke with the Plant Manager, Molly, about how asphalt producers are supporting our local communities and discussed the upcoming Surface Transportation reauthorization in Congress. Thanks for having me!

Yesterday, I visited the Arvin-Edison Water Storage District to tour the North Canal Spreading Works Expansion Site. This project will help convert land into groundwater recharge to strengthen water security for nearly 20,000 people, which is why I fought to secure a $2 million investment as part of the Fiscal Year 2026 Interior and Environment Appropriations Act. As a member of @HouseAppropsGOP, it's my priority to deliver real results for the Central Valley, and this is exactly the kind of project that really makes a difference!

California is no stranger to devastating wildfires, and we need every tool available to better manage our forests and reduce this growing threat. That's why I'm proud to introduce the bipartisan Long-Term Good Neighbor Authority Act alongside @RepJimmyPanetta. By strengthening long-term collaboration between federal, state, tribal, and local partners, we can take a more proactive approach to forest management and wildfire prevention to better protect our communities for the future. California is known for our Giant Sequoias, and we need to do everything we can to protect them from the ongoing threat of wildfires. That's why I was proud to speak on the House Floor in support of the Save Our Sequoias Act. This bipartisan bill takes the necessary steps to protect these natural monuments for future generations, and I look forward to working to get this important legislation across the finish line.
