@KeithGroller Was at some very exciting EPC, Colonial League, and D11 playoff games. But once you get to states, it seems like a lot of blowouts once you run into schools with loads of D1 talent. Those games just aren’t as fun to watch!

I just think it would be foolhardy for those in charge to put their heads in the sand and think everything’s going great when a mere eye test shows that it isn’t. Part of what makes HS sports great is the atmosphere. “Hoosiers” wasn’t just a movie, it was real life around here at one time. I realize the packed houses of the past aren’t coming back, but 500 people at a state semi is not a good look. I can only imagine what it will look like in 5-10 years. Will anybody but parents be going to games? Even they might stay home and watch it on their favorite streamer.

I see they revised it one more time to make it basically equal to last year, for what thats worth. A lot has changed in 20 years for better and for worse(referencing Bob's comparison to 2004-2006 and the 33K figure). There's more options than ever for people to have things to do and high school sports is often not the priority it once was. Changing populations, less emphasis on competition, etc. A lot of what i'm seeing out there--people want to blame D12 and the public/private battle, but we live in a vastly different world than a couple decades ago. Many factors at play. I don't know that simply changing venues or a bigger overhaul to boundary and non-boundary championships will fix it, either.
