@_jacksmith Crazy! When my wife was diagnosed with CA last year, the care received was brilliant (NHS), but received zero nutrition advice. A government isn’t in long enough to deliver a costly long term strategic plan on preventative measures as they will see no results during their term.

@ProfKarolSikora My wife is going through ca treatment, and although the care has been world class, im astonished at the lack of education on nutrition from the oncologist, to even the outdated NHS website. Surely for preventative planning a top down pragmatic approach to nutrition is essential?

An extremely concerning development. I have been booked to speak at the Spectator's 'How to fix Britain’s cancer crisis' debate at the Conservative Party Conference for some time. I was recently informed by the organisers that the sponsor of the event, an NHS supplier, threatened to pull their substantial sponsorship fee unless I was removed from the panel. With full credit to the Spectator, they refused this blatant attempt at censorship at great financial cost. I don't pretend, or want, to be the most popular person at NHS HQ. But if, as I suspect, they were involved in the attempted cancellation then that is worrying. I spent over 40 years in the NHS, a period as the WHO cancer chief and have been involved in the development of cancer infrastructure in almost every country in the world. They may not like my views, but I think that they're based in enough experience to be worth hearing. In fact, I've been very careful not to be too forthright on how I feel about how healthcare is delivered in the UK. That certainly won't be the case from now on. I also heavily suspect that NHS disdain for my critical opinions has contributed to their refusal to help reopen the Rutherford cancer centre network - capable of helping 20,000 patients a year. It is all extremely murky. I am looking forward to speaking at the event tomorrow and outlining how I believe we can fix Britain's cancer crisis. High on the agenda is eradicating the blasphemy culture surrounding the NHS. It is not a world-beating health service and the longer we lie to ourselves that it is, the more patients will suffer.

@RoryStewartUK @RestIsPolitics Due to my wife having a potential 40% reoccurrence rate with her cancer, i am looking into options of going abroad for regular MRI’s. Similar to dentistry, far cheaper to fly abroad for treatment.

UK astonishingly far behind on CT and MRI scanners - I get that tech isn’t everything - but can we really justify being this much of an outlier? ⁦@RestIsPolitics

Stock splits are interesting—psychologically more so than technically. Google parent Alphabet just announced a 20-for-1 stock split and the share price is surging. Here’s a (very) simple breakdown:

I've had success with ketamine therapy for helping with depression. Unfortunately it's not yet accessible to most. Insurance usually doesn't cover it. Also some scammers: one "ketamine clinic" was a plastic surgeon looking to make some extra money. Charging $4200 for 6 sessions

When did tech go from friends to enemies with media? @balajis had a great breakdown. Tech started out as an ally, then became a foe. - FB/google swallowed the world's ad budgets (took their revenue) - FB/Twitter feeds swallowed everyone's attention (took their distribution)

A couple years ago, I got frustrated with the lack of local coverage in my home town paper. I said “screw it” and teamed up with a few friends to start our own as an email newsletter called Capital Daily. twitter.com/awilkinson/sta…
Andrew Wilkinson@awilkinson

In 2019, I set out to do something simple: Recreate the local newspaper in digital form, by creating a simple daily newsletter focused on Victoria, Canada, my home town 📰 I hired a journalist and we started sending out a quick summary of what’s happening every day at 7AM...

MDMA therapy is turning out to be THE cure for PTSD. PTSD being something which has resisted a lot of treatments till now. The @tferriss distributed movie “Trip of Compassion” does a good job showing what these transformations can look like. nytimes.com/2021/05/03/hea…

Here's a lesson on how to do cold outreach right. Don't ask someone for "coffee" or a "quick 20 min call" (or worst of all - "to pick their brain". You brain pickers stay away) Here's an example of how my cousin hustled & got connected with @chamath

The Navy SEAL Foundation supporting @MAPS research into MDMA therapy for PTSD for naval veterans is really awesome news. PTSD is a massive problem for veterans and current solutions aren't working. Props to @tferriss for spearheading this movement.
