When I discover a secret like this I get an urgent sensation like I have to act on it now with as much intensity as I can muster.
Felt this way in 2016 when I realized I had to do anything possible to build a career in crypto.
I got this feeling around 2018 when I realized AI was going to completely take over the economy
In 2020 when I realized stablecoins were going to completely displace established settlement rails
(All these things are completely verifiable)
And now in 2025 knowing that magnitude of the threat that quantum poses to all blockchains

We don't need to panic, but we need to get serious. I wish people would stop referencing metaculus. It's just a random survey platform without any mechanism to filter people w/ authority from randos on the internet. And there aren't enough votes in there for the results to be meaningful anyway. (@dallairedemers and I single-handedly moved the timeline down a few months back with our votes) Here's what we know to be fact: 1) Quantum computers at sufficient scale will break crypto at the most fundamental level imaginable.. 2) Experts like Scott (who advises the EF and has spent his whole career in this field) are striking a different tone about the timeline than ever before. 3) Resource estimates for running Shor's Algorithm have dropped by 20x over the course of this year, reflecting progress in error correction kicked off a year ago by Google's Willow Chip: arxiv.org/abs/2505.15917 (this doesn't even account for the 10x improvement of LDPC codes over surface codes)

How to access SOL in a brokerage account?
BTC and ETH both have ETFs. SOL has GSOL but it trades over 7x above NAV and is untouchable. But, there are two extremely cheaply valued crypto equities that provide SOL beta. One is much purer than the other but both work well imo.

I'm looking at getting a new toy.
Am considering an old Beetle.
Why:
- Easy to work on so I can tinker myself
- Wont break the bank so if I screw up while learning, all good
- Driving slow things fast is more fun than fast things slow.
Anyone own one? What's your experience?
When I was 16 my dad owned one for like 6 months. It was so fun to drive.
