BREAKING: Microsoft confirms a major Windows 11 release that focuses on performance, reliability, bug fixes, and bids goodbye to forced Windows Updates + unwanted Copilot integration! Microsoft is seriously and sincerely improving Windows 11 by listening to top feedbacks: - Movable taskbar confirmed. - You can now pause Windows Updates for as long as you want. No forced shutdown/reboot when updates paused. - Windows Update is moving PCs to a single monthly reboot. - Faster File Explorer, reduced memory footprint, faster Windows Search, better OS performance, and other bug fixes - Scaling back Copilot in Windows 11, start with apps like Notepad - Moving Windows core experience to WinUI (native framework), dropping WebView/React in features like the Start menu - Fewer notifications (disruptions), improved drivers, and more. How do you want Microsoft to improve Windows 11? 👇

Would be WAY faster to create. Not sure exactly how it’ll turn out. What do we call this new engine…

@davemorin recently started asking codex to search for iMessages instead of using the search bar macOS caches full conversation, not just recent messages, so codex basically just queries a local db still ridiculous that this is basically the only reliable way to find a fucking message

@Dimillian Recently saw codex pull up the transcript of some old WWDC session from 2016 because it could not find whatever it was looking for in the normal docs I honestly respect the grind

I can’t launch my own app in my country or region because I don’t have a business license (and getting one in Germany would take god knows how long and I worry about my own privacy) you need to comply with these bullshit EU DSA rules. I’ve been working on my app since July and I’m tired.

my dad just got a new macbook air and was bummed that his beloved two-decade-old hp laserjet printer wouldn’t work with it anymore. asked claude to help and it literally re-wrote the driver software to work with the new macos. AND IT WORKED 😭

@LuftkoppTim it‘s running a modified version of iOS instead of some low level display firmware, which also seems somewhat ridiculous In some cases, Macs with older chips even get additional features unlocked by being connected to a Studio Display macrumors.com/2022/03/21/stu…

^tsm

@ArkanulN @LuftkoppTim this kind of opinion is exactly why so many projects experience feature creep adding new features, especially system wide, must be carefully thought through and if a feature does not fit, it is discarded. most stuff never makes it out of prototyping for a reason

Both apps are literally unusable in this "mode". The Notes app doesn't let you make a new note etc and the Messages app doesn't show what contact you're even texting with. Split screen on phones is and always will be dumb

@ytrav_alt @LuftkoppTim Mobile operating systems benefit from being focused though. Cramming desktop multitasking into iOS just fights the form factor. If the task needs two apps at once, it’s an iPad / Mac job

@LuftkoppTim split screen indeed works on mobile, and you never realise how dumb not having it is when you need to do some action that requires constantly flipping back forth through two apps to copy and paste something, or do something while another app/browser tab is in focus
