Whenever the Liberals attack @AlboMP for the shortage of fuel, remember this: when Labor lost in 2013 we had 7 refineries. Over the life of the Liberal government (2013 to 2022) 5 were closed, leaving just 2. Breathtaking hypocrisy by @AngusTaylorMP and the Coalition.

@limmylammy I expected that, I’ve purchased them in Dubai before & 9K puffs seem right, the Oz ones I’ve been getting are not 9K puffs, they also get nasty when they get low. The Bali ones are like 🇦🇪 ones, you can only get them from beach/street sellers so maybe cabin crew importing them?

There’s a point where it stops being about evidence and starts being about preserving authority.
When systems are built on certainty, admitting error isn’t seen as course correction, it’s seen as loss of control. So instead of adjusting, they double down. The narrative is protected, even as the consequences become harder to ignore.
And that’s where the real damage happens. Not just in policy, but in trust. Because people can tolerate mistakes, but they don’t tolerate being told everything is fine when it clearly isn’t.
Over time, that gap between reality and what’s being said doesn’t just raise questions about one decision, it raises questions about all of them.

While families are being smashed at the bowser, Labor’s answer is “buy an EV” instead of backing immediate relief in slashing the fuel excise. 26c a litre isn’t everything, but it’s a start and we’ll keep pushing to make sure you pay less.
