@skermo83 @Ashtaty26 It would be useful if the individual products stated rhizobium numbers/g product, or something similar. Maybe someone on here can shed some light here? We did intensive research into this and found massive differences.

Interested in who treats inoculant straight into seeder cart. I’ve always treated into grouper, then into cart to avoid bridging (like most). Tried some lentils today, seems ok so far 🤷‍♂️. Guys at boss said common in north with chickpeas.

@agrobaz @Ashtaty26 I have seen some research which I thought at the time gave me confidence in water injection, have to see if I can find it. To answer your og question, yes they do, but imo and based on exp that’s not a good reason to do it up an auger for a number of reasons!

@agrobaz @Ashtaty26 No! they dont and niether did I! Maybe why we get better result water injecting at double rate up here on chickpeas and mungs. May explain accidental trial with freeze dried up auger not working and variable vs working when put in slot? Hard to find a lot of good info on this

@Ashtaty26 Out of interest, do many people know how much less ‘rhizobium numbers’ you get from freeze dried inoculant? Our team have had a very close look at this, and on acid soils freeze dried inoculant has a lot less numbers to start with than peat. All good if it all takes..

@DaveyJohn_676 @desertfarmer84 @agrobaz Do you have a any pics of how you have it on seed tube to get good coating? We have water injected for years with freeze dried also just into seed trench. Had a good "accidental" trial that made me never do it up the auger again!

@desertfarmer84 @agrobaz Yes because it costs the seed as it goes into the soil we've found it to more effective with early nodulation.

Pig damage in sorghum. Our most costly & destructive pest this season. Need #GRDC & #CRDC to join #LLS to come together to help quantify losses and cost of joint area wide control.

@Episode3net Was always going to be higher without anhydrous ammonia available? A lot of extra tonnes needed? or is that in the domestic share?

@venningj @brodenholland @dyerjonathan @cropscan @TrengoveSam Interesting, as I am starting to wonder how much different the plant behaves in different regions as not seeing the same things you guys are down there. Only 1 year and a couple of crops in so will keep seeing what we can learn, following everyones learning with interest!

@brodenholland @dyerjonathan @cropscan @TrengoveSam running some trials to measure exactly this. The problem with soil tests (as well as VRA tools used for zoning) is they are proxies to guess how the plant behaves and don’t measure plant behaviour itself. Protein maps great for “real plant behaviour data”

@dyerjonathan @cropmad @KateKak @GeezaColeman and as JD said, some chem savings reallocated to machinery, which I dont think alot account for. But we still a long way in front as most are in the north. We can actually kill weeds again!

@dyerjonathan @cropmad @KateKak @GeezaColeman Great thread, kept me thinking also! Been through this last few yrs before puchasing cameras, I think every business/weed spectrum/location will have different set of numbers from what I have seen. 36m SP seemed best fit for us, same hrs just way more efficient and lot less chem,

@GeezaColeman Only 1 optical sprayer within 100km that I know of. A typical summer here <100mm rainfall. This past summer 200-300mm. Very abnormal! But yes a small one for fenceline spraying would be mint. 😉

Nozzle selection for weed seekers spraying glyphosate/glufosinate/ Paraquat. Ones we have are dropping bombs(08’s) doing the job but need better coverage. Ideas? Or what are you using.

@congreve_mark @agrobaz @skermo83 CSD made a statement, at a meeting, that 24D tolerant cotton was in the pipeline. Someways off for a result. But speaking to breeders and trial management for Xtend Flex, they scoffed and laughed at the possibility. So I can ascertain that it is a ways off

I’ve been thinking along similar lines to Mitch. We should be pre treating our spray water instead of adding AMS to the spray tank the same way we add our other chemicals. Thoughts? @congreve_mark @robbert115
Mitch Meyer@MitchMeyer88

@robbert115 Are you using dry AMS? I use 17 lbs AMS per 100 gallons of water. I’m not sure what percent that would be. I’ve noticed I have much better luck pretreating my sprayer water the day before I use it with AMS when spraying Glyphosate
