i still stand by this because it’s impossible to find proper domains that aren’t sitting idle owned by boomers who think that a non .com domain is worth $100000 or more i need a pretty helium domain but it’s impossible to get so i guess we’re stuck with .computer
wukko@uwukko

ICANN should ban domain hoarding and release all hoarded domains back into the public pool, extortion like this is way too common. there's a near infinite amount of unused domains because morons like ishmilly sit on them & ask for 10000x price

@girlbosswoman @lxeagle17 Democratic politicians aren’t budging on trans rights so your point doesn’t make sense. Democrats across the spectrum on other matters and across the country back trans rights out of moral responsibility despite the unpopularity

@lxeagle17 Serious question. If a majority came out and said "Black people should only play sports with Black people and only use Black bathrooms", should democrats support it? What about interracial marriage restrictions? A majority supported it until the mid 90s.

To be clear, I have never once advocated for Democrats moving away from advocating for protections for trans people — but *what* protections you choose to fight for and *how* you fight for it is a really important topic when public opinion is that heavily slanted. If you want to argue on *sports*, then that is a losing fight — end of story. It is not just clear in our poll; it is visible in data from the New York Times and backed up by other polls on other LGBT topics. It's even something that a lot of LGBT organizations have said themselves. It also impacts a minimal group. Regarding the ineffective methods (of confrontation) that I cited in our piece, that actually came directly from the New York Times talking to the executive director of Advocates for Transgender Equality. Or take this quote, from Sarah McBride talking to Ezra Klein: "Right now, that compromise would be deemed unprincipled, weak, and throwing everyone under the bus, and that is so counterproductive, it is so harmful and it completely betrays the lessons of every single social movement and civil rights movement in our country’s history." You decide. But it is not anti-trans to do a poll (reviewed by a bipartisan board of experts to protect against bias!). It is not anti-trans to point out that the movement has lost a lot of ground over the last ten years. And it is not anti-trans to say that the strategies chosen haven't worked in the face of Republican attacks. And there still exists broad support for protecting transgender individuals from discrimination in employment and housing — so there is a framework to focus on. But the choice has to be made. And dismissing people who say that as "transphobic" is wrong, counterproductive, and a one-way ticket to losing.

Jeez there so many cynics! It cracks me up when I hear people call AI underwhelming. I grew up playing Snake on a Nokia phone! The fact that people are unimpressed that we can have a fluent conversation with a super smart AI that can generate any image/video is mindblowing to me.

@LCaraciki @An_Design_Kyoto @Arin_Yumi You’re comparing that income to American costs of living. The only thing that should really matter is income vs your costs of living in the area (unless you plan to spend most of your earnings abroad or are sending your wages home to your family)

Japan is gradually becoming less attractive to foreign workers due to prolonged economic stagnation, low wages compared to other developed Asian countries, a weak yen, and high living costs. For example, the number of Chinese technical interns in Japan has dropped sharply, from 38,327 in 2015 to 11,347 in 2023, as skilled workers in China can now earn sufficient income at home, making migration to Japan for work unnecessary. The president of a corporation that hires workers from the Philippines explained that, unlike decades ago when "everyone wanted to come to Japan", most now view it merely as a stepping stone to the United States and Western Europe, as gaining work experience in Japan improves their employment prospects. The quality of technical interns coming to Japan is also declining because higher wages in their home countries allow skilled workers to stay. As a result, more low-skilled workers are coming to Japan. The demographics of Japan’s foreign workforce are expected to shift, with the number of Chinese workers declining while those from Sri Lanka, Nepal, and India increase. In the future, workers from African countries are also likely to rise.

Our harsh treatment of those who kill their own newborns is utterly indefensible. If she had killed it a few months earlier we would not have condemned it. Instead we now give a sentence greater than those who shoot others. Why? Will she reoffend? Will this deter? Why?

@BricknGaming @laze91 @zoeyizume There is zero evidence here Sinder is a victim locked in an abusive relationship. Assuming that right now is placing women automatically in a subjugated role until you see proof they’re autonomous— should be the opposite
