It’s a serious problem, I agree. So what’s the solution? DeSantis is working for a constitutional amendment for a balanced budget. That is one path, although potentially too restrictive (e.g. in times of severe duress). It seems to me that the root problem for all our political dysfunction is our current electoral system. We need primary reform and RCV or something like it. The current system is not representative of the majority of Americans who are more moderate than either party. Most of us are stuck with choosing the lesser evil instead of voting for someone we strongly align with.

America just crossed a dangerous milestone: our national debt now exceeds the size of our economy. Washington spends $1.33 for every $1 it takes in, with a $1.9T deficit this year alone.
