Delighted to share this conversation with the extraordinary @barryoreilly. We dive into learnings from experiences in the early years of Google in Ireland, the approach of 'middle-child' leadership, what I have learned in working with designers.. and much more besides #unlearn
Barry O'Reilly@barryoreilly

Authenticity is about being yourself @suzisch looked to the great leaders around her at @Google @ideocolab @Stanford for traits she could cultivate in her own life Today she designing the #futureofwork and #talent at @ideo Great #unlearn #podcast buff.ly/39hhlxH

Ask me anything. I really value our interactions on social media which have changed a lot over time. It’s been a while since I’ve done an AMA so I thought I’d do one with this post. Ask me anything in the replies and I will answer as many as I can in the coming days.

Folks I’m really really struggling with cars only in shops. I just don’t agree with it. I don’t like it at all. Would be throwing in a few coins into a tip jar for example in coffee shops. Card only is just not good.

@barryoreilly After Hours by TED/HBS is always charming and packed with nuggets. Knowledge Project by Farnam Street is consistently excellent. Pop Culture Happy Hour by NPR to zone out and feel like you’re hanging out with friends who give great tv + movie recs :)

@shishirmehrotra The biggest thing is building up the habit/muscle memory to do this regularly. Also develop a practice or stepping back to look at this zoomed out for a month or two ahead. From talking to friends: ppl seem to rarely spend quality time thinking about time :)

@shishirmehrotra I fill in breaks and work time, and things which may need to be switched out (pending that being confirmed). Simple enough: two extra colors. Seeing the air/rest breaks, lunch, and work time visually since pandemic has been a complete game changer.

I'm curious: who colors the events on their calendar? And if you do, what do the colors mean?

Three stages of thinking: 1. Too simplistic. 2. Too complicated. 3. Simple (reduction of complexity to what’s essential).

@HelenORahilly @MichaelsCoDub @jules_mahon As students braving the Berlin winter twenty odd years ago it was magical propulsion that took us from one bar to the next through the ice and snow. A good reminder though: there’s probably no need to try it again now :)
