@ShelbyTNSheriff Two innocent children would still be here today if a breed that was made for fighting was banned. If they had chosen any other breed of the hundreds available. We as a society are responsible. We choose this breed over human life. #banpitbulls

This is the terrifying end of the radicalization pipeline. A boy goes from posting about baseball to consuming Andrew Tate and Charlie Kirk. Years later, he stalks and kills two teenage girls, then goes on a livestream to talk about his right-wing heroes.

@WDIAfghanistan1 Islam is the antichrist. It’s from the devil. So many great things in the world, Islam is against. It hates dogs, it devalues women, it sexually abuses children, it commands men to beat their wives, it tells followers to kill and tax non-believers. It is not the way.

I understand why men like Oliver, who've consistently mocked anti-science people on the right, sold out initially. They didn't want to blow up their careers. Taking fashionable anti-women's rights positions was the cost of doing business. But it's time to read the fucking room.

The cheese has officially slid off Matt’s crackers. Harriet Tubman was a Union spy during the Civil War. In WWI, the US Army Nurse Corps was made up of over 21,000 women. In WWII, female code breakers were incremental to cracking Nazi ciphers and defeating Hitler. In 1979, 2nd Lt. Marcella Hayes became the first Black female pilot in the U.S. Armed Forces. In 1983, over 100 women participated in Operation Urgent Fury. In 1990, over 24,000 women served during Desert Storm. This is just to name a few ways women have actively defended their country. And if we really want to go back to historical and biblical precedent, Jael and Deborah.

It took less than a week for right wing men to stop pretending to be reasonable allies and stab us in the back. I knew it was coming, but I figured they’d at least have the decency to wait a few weeks before showing their true colors. Well, we had a couple of days to celebrate — time to get back to work.

Vivek, your assertion that “native” Americans are overlooked for top tech positions due to cultural mediocrity is not only dismissive and oversimplified it’s an indirect acknowledgment of illegal practices under U.S. law. By framing this as a cultural issue, you inadvertently admit that companies are deliberately displacing American workers, which is explicitly prohibited under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Let’s address both the legality and the flaws in your argument: 1. Acknowledgment of Illegal Practices: The INA strictly prohibits employers from displacing qualified U.S. workers, including for subjective reasons like perceived cultural differences. If companies are bypassing Americans because they believe foreign-born engineers have a “better work ethic” or “superior cultural values,” they are in violation of federal law. By endorsing this narrative, you’re not only justifying these illegal actions but also providing companies with excuses to continue exploiting visa programs like H-1B and PERM. 2. It’s Not About Culture, It’s About Exploitation: The preference for foreign-born engineers is driven by cost and control, not cultural superiority. Employers often hire temporary visa holders because they can pay them less, manipulate their employment terms, and use their visa status as leverage to suppress wages and working conditions. This isn’t a meritocracy; it’s corporate exploitation that undermines both American and foreign workers. Suggesting this is about cultural flaws ignores the real systemic issue and helps perpetuate these harmful practices. 3. American Excellence Is Proven The U.S. has long been the global leader in technology and innovation, thanks to its diverse and dynamic culture. Icons like Steve Jobs, Grace Hopper, Katherine Johnson, and countless others emerged from this very culture you criticize. The same “mediocrity” you decry is responsible for creating the Silicon Valley tech ecosystem that now avoids hiring the Americans that built them. 4. Your Dichotomy of Excellence vs. Normalcy Is Harmful: Framing success as requiring the abandonment of social experiences or leisure is not only incorrect but also damaging. Balance and well-being are critical components of sustainable achievement. Moreover, your anecdotes about immigrant families restricting TV and prioritizing STEM success propagate a narrow and stereotypical view of achievement, ignoring the variety of paths to success that American families foster. 5. Your Opinion Enables Exploitation: By blaming American culture, you’re giving companies a justification to continue displacing U.S. workers and violating the INA. This narrative helps them obscure their profit-driven motives behind a veneer of cultural critique. Instead of holding employers accountable for their exploitation of visa programs, you’re shifting the blame onto American families, students, and workers, those most harmed by these practices. 6. The Damage of Exploitative Programs: The widespread misuse of H-1B and PERM programs has had devastating effects on American workers. These programs were intended to fill labor gaps when no qualified U.S. workers are available, not to replace them. By validating these illegal practices with cultural arguments, you’re perpetuating the very harm these programs were meant to prevent. 7. Legality and Accountability Matter: You dismiss the importance of legislative action, but the INA exists precisely to ensure fair treatment of American workers. Companies shouldn’t be allowed to replace qualified U.S. citizens under the pretense of cultural deficiencies. Employers must be held accountable for hiring practices that violate the law, and American workers deserve protection not baseless criticism.

What Vivek is actually condemning is that the American working class has the fresh memory of their parents achieving a high standard of living through honest work, and that they hold that as an expectation. Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, etc do not have that memory or expectation. American workers have become fully disillusioned with runaway capitalism, and do not want to sacrifice their bodies or minds for a standard of living far below what their parents enjoyed with less education and skills than they have. They do not want to work 50+ hours per week to barely be able to make ends meet for themselves, let alone for the family they hope to have. They have zero incentive. So what Vivek means when he speaks of "culture" is the culture of insects. What Vivek is describing when he refers to "hyper-competitiveness" are Americans being unable to compete with insect culture. It is an American with the blood memory of a happy family being comfortably provided for on a union mechanic's salary up against a swarm of roaches content to be packed 20 to a pod, eating slop, shitting in a bucket, and doing it all for nothing more than the occasional headpat from their master. For their refusal to accept such a slave-like existence, American workers are being mocked by the insects, who cannot even begin to fathom that there is meaning and value to life beyond a few extra dollars in their bank account, a bit of extra shareholder value, being #1 in some bullshit industry that shouldn’t even exist, etc...
Vivek Ramaswamy@VivekGRamaswamy

The reason top tech companies often hire foreign-born & first-generation engineers over “native” Americans isn’t because of an innate American IQ deficit (a lazy & wrong explanation). A key part of it comes down to the c-word: culture. Tough questions demand tough answers & if we’re really serious about fixing the problem, we have to confront the TRUTH: Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long (at least since the 90s and likely longer). That doesn’t start in college, it starts YOUNG. A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers. A culture that venerates Cory from “Boy Meets World,” or Zach & Slater over Screech in “Saved by the Bell,” or ‘Stefan’ over Steve Urkel in “Family Matters,” will not produce the best engineers. (Fact: I know *multiple* sets of immigrant parents in the 90s who actively limited how much their kids could watch those TV shows precisely because they promoted mediocrity…and their kids went on to become wildly successful STEM graduates). More movies like Whiplash, fewer reruns of “Friends.” More math tutoring, fewer sleepovers. More weekend science competitions, fewer Saturday morning cartoons. More books, less TV. More creating, less “chillin.” More extracurriculars, less “hanging out at the mall.” Most normal American parents look skeptically at “those kinds of parents.” More normal American kids view such “those kinds of kids” with scorn. If you grow up aspiring to normalcy, normalcy is what you will achieve. Now close your eyes & visualize which families you knew in the 90s (or even now) who raise their kids according to one model versus the other. Be brutally honest. “Normalcy” doesn’t cut it in a hyper-competitive global market for technical talent. And if we pretend like it does, we’ll have our asses handed to us by China. This can be our Sputnik moment. We’ve awaken from slumber before & we can do it again. Trump’s election hopefully marks the beginning of a new golden era in America, but only if our culture fully wakes up. A culture that once again prioritizes achievement over normalcy; excellence over mediocrity; nerdiness over conformity; hard work over laziness. That’s the work we have cut out for us, rather than wallowing in victimhood & just wishing (or legislating) alternative hiring practices into existence. I’m confident we can do it. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

Imagine waking up in Britain and reading this, which is the equivalent of what Trump is doing on Day 1: -a national border emergency is declared -the military is sent to the Channel to stop the boats -a national priority is established to eliminate organised gangs on British soil and designate them "terrorists" -new powers are granted to allow the swift detain and deportation of anybody entering Britain illegally -all energy constraints including on North Sea gas and oil are removed, Net Zero is effectively put on pause -fully reform the state, including making it clear civil servants who fail to comply with new gvt will be sacked -shut down woke ideology in federal institutions and replace hiring with new merit-based hiring review -force all civil servants back to in-person work -restore full free speech and end federal censorship -remove security clearances of any civil servant who has engaged in shut down of free speech -establish biological sex definitions/bring gender ideology in public institutions to an end -immediately end all 'Diversity, Equity and Inclusion' programmes across government -establish a new department of government efficiency and regain centralised control over all NGO funding -remove all state programmes that increase cost-of-living for British families and consumers
