@pbprot somehow “the normies” will never get old to me Literally NPCs, just extras in the background of a bigger picture they’ll never understand, opinions and attitudes changing with the current propaganda at the drop of a hat. The normies 😂

@BowTiedPhys Yep. In clinical depression, people sleep more. When you feel alive you sleep less. I feel amazing on 6-7 hours per night. Anything more I feel mediocre.

Things that are also true: - Bioindividuality matters - Regularity is as important as quality (maybe more) - Both are >> duration - Sleep "optimization" culture ("7 hrs isn't sufficient" + sleep trackers) = net negative - Across 69 meta-analyses (PMID: 34435311)

“The function, the very serious function of racism is distraction. It keeps you from doing your work. It keeps you explaining, over and over again, your reason for being. Somebody says you have no language and you spend twenty years proving that you do. Somebody says your head isn’t shaped properly so you have scientists working on the fact that it is. Somebody says you have no art, so you dredge that up. Somebody says you have no kingdoms, so you dredge that up. None of this is necessary. There will always be one more thing.” ― Toni Morrison

@BerbarianWizard More importantly it desensitizes you to everything else due to reduced dopaminergic tone If you want to feel like a child again, put down the super stimulus of porn

Libido and erection quality are not determined by testosterone alone. Dopamine plays a central role in sexual motivation and arousal. After ejaculation, prolactin rises → temporarily suppresses dopamine (refractory phase). Add chronic porn overstimulation → desensitization + conditioned arousal. Lower sensitivity = lower libido, weaker erections, more reliance on intense stimuli.

Ok I can explain this to you, because unlike this bunch of losers I’ve worked in marketing. What we market to you is this: An identity you want > A product > A sale Doesn’t matter if it’s a teapot or a banking app. That’s what you do with an ad. Does it make you feel smart? Prestigious? In on the joke? Cool? Safe? That’s how advertisers think. If I say “This hat is cool, and good!” that’s a 2/10 ad. If I say “This hat is the hat you wear on holiday this year when the warm Italian sun floods the vineyards” that’s already put the hat on your head and a luxury holiday. Now, most people do not like racism. I know that’ll shock you because of Elon’s whack algorithm, but most people identify as “not a racist”. Easiest way to say to someone, look how open minded we are, and you are just like us? Diversity in an ad. It’s just sales. You’re just dumb so you see an “agenda”.

They say God’s timing is perfect- in my heart I know it is. But I find it hard to accept his timing when it comes to the death of my baby. Mark loved the number 11. He always pointed at the time when it was 11;11 and once said “mom, remember 11:11” . He was killed when he was 11 years and 11 days old to the day. 😭😭🤯🤯 9.18.2009- 9.29.2020 Jesus please help me accept your timing.

It's time to start questioning axioms like this. The unstated presumption that we're this and that, we're so rich, we're so advanced. What is so advanced about millions of abortions and rapes every year? What is so progressive about your own regime blocking investigations in grooming gangs while profiting from their votes? What is so forward-thinking about obliterating your own past, shutting Christian schools, locking up 17x more people per year than under Brezhnev in the Soviet Union? When Britain starts acting like a modern civilisation again, people can start calling it as such.

This is one of the most important studies in sleep science. Van Dongen et al. ran the experiment that changed how we understand chronic sleep restriction. They had subjects sleep 4h, 6h, or 8h nightly for 14 days, testing cognitive performance every 2 hours. The 6h group’s reaction time deficits by day 14 matched subjects who had been awake for 24 hours straight. The 4h group? They performed like someone awake 48 hours. But here’s what makes this study terrifying. The Stanford Sleepiness Scale ratings in Panel B plateau after day 3-4. Subjects stopped feeling more tired even as their cognitive performance continued deteriorating through day 14. Your subjective experience of fatigue is a lagging indicator that eventually just… stops updating. This explains why chronic undersleeping feels sustainable. You’ve adapted to feeling tired. Your prefrontal cortex hasn’t adapted to being impaired. The PVT (Psychomotor Vigilance Task) in Panel A measures lapses in attention. These are the moments where you’re staring at a screen and your brain simply checks out for 500ms. Every additional day of 6h sleep adds more lapses. The curve never flattens. Panel C and D show working memory and processing speed. Same pattern: continuous degradation with no subjective awareness. The practical implications: If you’re sleeping 6h and think you’re functioning fine, you’ve lost the internal calibration to know you’re not. The subjects in this study would have told you they felt “okay” while performing like they’d pulled an all-nighter. For anyone doing cognitively demanding work, this means you cannot trust how you feel. You need to track objective markers: error rates, decision latency, problem-solving throughput. Sleep need is biological, not negotiable. Most adults require 7-9 hours, and the research shows no population-level adaptation to chronic restriction. “I only need 6 hours” is almost always “I’ve forgotten what baseline cognition feels like.“
Bailey Klemmensen@iiKlemm

Competitive gamers: 6h of sleep is a hidden nerf. 6h/night for 2 weeks → reaction time & attention decline to the equivalent of pulling MULTIPLE all-nighters. Worst part: subjective fatigue plateaus, so you stop noticing. If you're not getting 7+ hours/night, you're trolling.

@marekjanous The deep sleep before 2am thing is interesting. I’ve heard this yet I seem to feel better if I go to bed around 2-3am and wake up at 9-10am Also how do you know you’re getting “several hours of REM” if you’ve never once measured it

If I understand your question well… Two full deep-sleep cycles would last for about three to four hours in total, in most people. The caveat is: deep sleep prevalence only occurs until 2 am (hopefully local solar time) in most people. So one has to fall asleep no later than 11 pm; 10 is better. Falling asleep ≠ going to bed. Without severe sleep deprivation, falling asleep will take considerable time on its own. The REM sleep… it depends. My theory is that so long as you will drowse into yet another dream, your brain probably needed it. (Might not apply to people with rare disorders.) I don’t need or use trackers. The second criterion is self-evident. The first happens to also be self-evident, once you learn how it feels when you have achieved enough deep sleep for the night.
