Find out what grade copper he used, if K, it is the thickest and most resistant. Filter your water before it gets into the system if you can. My pipes rotted from the inside. The original owner used M grade (the thinnest). $24K worth of floor and wall damage. PEX, if you are in cold climates, won't freeze if buried or insulated as code for your area requires.
