I design + code digital things, especially if they can run in a web browser and use more than two dimensions. Also check out my side project @getmokkapp

I'm creating a mockup tool that lets you place devices in a 3D environment and render them from any angle on a fast computer in the cloud. Only thing you need is a browser. Inspired by @levelsio and @AndreyAzimov I'll share the process in this thread 👇 First ever rendering:

The edit settings for ProfilePicture.app are getting too many. Hard to edit the image without having to constantly scroll back and forth Made it overflow-y-scroll, it works but looks kinda... weird? Hard to know there's more below? How can I improve this UI? What's the best way to manage a growing set of dials and toggles for an image editor?

Growth on @PirschAnalytics is slow but steady, so I'm looking to build a second SaaS! 🛠️ I have some ideas but would like to hear if there is anything you would want to use, but didn't find yet or didn't find the time to build. #SaaS #buildingpublic #startup

Quick CSS Tip: You can create a progressive blur effect using a single div and just 2 properties. Works best when your div is placed over an image and is more efficient than stacking multiple elements with increasing blur.

@moritzpetersen Well, in my opinion, no not 90%. The one is an effect which reminds me of the dof of a camera lens, the other of this cheap dreamy photoshop effects which were very en vouge 20+ years ago. If performance is a concern it’s a valid choice sure

@Shpigford @tobimori Have you tested against any other search engine? A couple of years ago (when I last tested it) google was the only one to read javascript content, e.g. bing did not

@tobimori you can actively test *any* site for what Google sees. search.google.com/test/rich-resu… i've tested hundreds of pages across many domains that have dynamically inserted content (including javascript) and haven't had a single case of google not being able to read it.

@m5blum My guess is, you can‘t do anything about it really except when your feature is protected by a patent or something like that. Probably just focus on keeping your customers happy and keep iterating and make good stuff? 💪

It feels like one of our much larger competitors is copying our features. How would you respond?

@jaydrogers The best way imho is to use checked in .env.development and .env.production files with all relevant values and sensible defaults and gitignored .local counterparts with secrets or overrides. You know like vite and symfony do it. No idea why laravel hasn’t implemented that yet 🤷‍♂️

A true Laravel artisan always ensures their .env.example is always up to date so it's easy for other developers to clone your app 👨‍💻 ⚠️IMPORTANT NOTE: But don't be that guy committing API tokens either 🔥

@housecor @WolfOliver I tackled this by putting everything possible in helper functions for the meta and stories parts of a stories.js/ts file. There are still things to update manually but it sure helps :)

@WolfOliver Good question. I've found upgrading Storybook over time is time-consuming. The automatic upgrades have often failed for me, so I often have to manually update these carefully. I also don't like how much "noise" it adds to my package.json. Feels scattershot.

Storybook is useful, but the number of dependencies it drags in feels excessive. Look at this diff! Anyone using something lighter? I've used Ladle, which is a nice lightweight alternative. Other options out there?

Wer wettet dagegen?
