Ok gamers got a question - AND BE HONEST Would you quit your job, today, to play video games for a living for $70,000 per year. Also - that’s the only income you can have. Curious your thoughts.

@daveweigel weird, I remember it being a time so economically precarious that an elderly Vermont man almost got elected President due to generational economic strife.

I see why this Dem wanted to stay anonymous. People didn't "forget" about Trump's first term. They remembered it fondly, as a period of strong economic growth that got interrupted by COVID. On election day 2020, 49% of voters still said the economy was "good." cnn.com/election/2020/…

Make no mistake: Kamala Harris is very much looking like a presidential contender–in–waiting. “She’s been listening to the American people and really trying to figure out what’s impacting them and how she can be of service to them,” said Minyon Moore, a longtime Democratic strategist who ran the Democratic National Convention that nominated Harris in 2024. “I mean, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand that right now we need leaders that can take us in a different direction and bring us back together as a party.” “She walks in as the front-runner. It is fairly obvious she is followed wherever she goes,” said one former aide. “She comes in with 99 percent name ID and everyone else is going to have to raise money and buy it.” It is a prospect that has filled many senior Democratic officials and big-money donors with dread, even though Harris would come into the race with some sizable advantages. She has led in every national poll of prospective candidates, usually by double digits. Early front-runners tend to do well. Joe Biden led in almost all polling two years before he won in 2020, and Hillary Clinton led easily by this point in the 2016 race. “It is so emotional for me. I just love her so much,” said Liz Minnella, a former deputy finance chair for the Democratic Party. “I just worry. I think she has learned a lot from the mistakes she made — or, I should say, the campaign made — in ’24, and I would love it, but can she go back to all of those people again and raise money? Will it all be just an autopsy of 2024? We have to be honest about what kind of candidates work and where they work.” David Freedlander reports on the possibility of a Kamala 2.0 — and why any contest with Harris in it could get messy: nymag.visitlink.me/ssRSLA

@victryena People like that is how you lose normal people and make them not take anything you say seriously. I seriously think it’s one reason Trump won. Asmon isn’t a Nazi, it doesn’t even make sense to say. He has some authoritarian views, sure

Erin Brockovich: When I put this map out, in the first 72 hours, the map crashed twice, and I woke up on day 3 going, oh my God, it's not one town and one data center, it's the entire country. They had no idea. They woke up to this construction. They weren't informed. City council didn't tell them anything. Because these big tech groups came in and put these city council members under NDAs.

🧵 I talked to Democratic Party officials, black voters in South Carolina, and prominent Democratic donors about whether the party wants former VP Kamala Harris to for president (again) in 2028. Some takeaways:

The biggest cultural disconnect between the Dem professional class and the voters who matter isn't education or race or class (although those matter), it's that we staff our campaigns with people who like politics and usually like the Democratic Party.

It's been harder this cycle than any previous one to find and hire staff for Dem campaigns, and while that stays true you're going to see more and more fiascos like what happened with Rodriguez. The old ways of convincing smart people to take hard, unsteady jobs aren't working.
