A furious landlord blasted 3AW: “I’m sick & tired of getting pounded by this Labor govt, I’ll sell them all & never invest in Victoria again!” He’s not alone. Victoria’s rental reforms (no-fault eviction ban, 90-day notices, rental bidding ban, mandatory upgrades) higher land taxes are driving a landlord exodus. Punishing investors shrinks supply equating to higher rents & worse crisis for everyone. Time for Labor to stop treating landlords like the enemy & start encouraging investment to actually fix housing.

Everyone keeps saying AI is the most important technology ever invented. I think they're right. But not for the reasons most people think. The conventional argument goes something like: AI is powerful, AI will change jobs, AI will make companies more efficient. That's the boring version. The safe version. The version you hear from consultants who've been saying the same thing about every technology since the iPhone. The real reason AI is the most important technology ever built? It's the first technology that makes *other technologies* better. Exponentially. Think about what that means. The internet didn't make electricity better. The car didn't improve the printing press. But AI? AI improves drug discovery, robotics, energy production, coding, materials science, logistics. Basically everything with a feedback loop. That's never happened before in human history. Not once. And I think that's why most comparisons to previous technological revolutions actually *undersell* what's coming. Google DeepMind's CEO Demis Hassabis recently described AI as 10 times bigger than the industrial revolution and 10 times faster. His exact framing: "100x." I don't think he's being hyperbolic. The industrial revolution took generations to play out. Hassabis is talking about something that compresses that same magnitude of change into years. Maybe a decade. Every previous technology, fire, the wheel, electricity, the internet, enhanced one dimension of human capability. Fire gave us heat and cooking. The wheel gave us transport. Electricity gave us power at scale. The internet gave us information distribution. AI gives us *cognition* at scale. The ability to think, reason, analyze, create, deployed across every domain simultaneously. And I think what Hassabis is really getting at is that we haven't even begun to see the application layer play out. We're still in the infrastructure buildout phase. The people who are still asking "is AI overhyped?" are measuring the wrong thing. They're looking at today's snapshot and comparing it to the promises. The question isn't whether AI lives up to the hype *right now*, it's whether the trajectory holds. And every piece of evidence I've seen, from Hassabis to Huang, says the trajectory isn't just holding. It's accelerating. So yeah. Most important technology ever. But if you're nodding along, because you've heard that before, you're prolly still underestimating it. Brace yourself. Because the next 24 months are going to be wild.
