I believe Ford is hiding something so nefarious not only would it see him discharged from his premiership, it would very likely lead to criminal charges. Where are the OPP and @rcmpgrcpolice on this? It appears they've been rendered both spineless & inept. Why? #DougFordisCORRUPT

Thank you to the hundreds of students and concerned Ontarians who joined @maritstiles, @ontariondp caucus members, and me for our OSAP town hall last night! Students deserve a government that invests in their futures, not one that cuts support and makes education harder to access. It was inspiring to see the power of collective organizing as people shared their stories and learned key strategies to take action against Ford and his Conservatives’ harmful decisions. I’m feeling energized and looking forward to joining you all again at the rally at Queen’s Park on March 24th!

@JCCFCanada Most MPPs are from the same majority PC party and are supporting this draconian act of suprressing FOI so that they can continue to engage in corruption. (while NDP, Liberal, Green Party MPPs are already rallying against it) Time to write to Federal MPs in Ontario for attention.

Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms
The Ontario government has indicated that it will introduce legislation exempting the Premier, the provincial cabinet and its offices from Freedom of Information requests. If this legislation passes, the Ontario government will be effectively insulated from public scrutiny, and major government decisions affecting more than 14 million citizens will be made behind an impermeable veil of secrecy. The Justice Centre champions freedom of expression. This freedom, according to the Supreme Court of Canada, also protects the right of members of the public, as listeners and readers, to access information pertaining to public institutions. Contact your Ontario MPP today here: ola.org/en/members/cur…. Tell your elected representative that you expect your government to make decisions in the open. @MaritStiles At least 1 branch of government has the Spine to call out @fordnation on evasion of public accountability. Time for Federal Caucus of MPs in Ontario to weigh in. For Canada to remain democracy: all levels of Government need to defend rules to hold elected officials accountable.

BREAKING: Ontario’s Information and Piracy Commissioner weighs in on premier Doug Ford changes to the FOI: “This amendment is about hiding government-related business to evade public accountability.” On Doug Ford’s use of a private cell phone for gov’t business: The Government of Ontario is currently seeking leave to appeal a court ruling that unanimously upheld my office's order to produce call logs from the Premier's personal cellphone that relate to government business. This is to ensure independent examination to determine whether they may be subject to access under the law. Based on evidence showing that the Premier routinely uses his personal phone to conduct government business, it is likely that they are. By changing the law retroactively, the government's message is plain: if oversight bodies get in the way, just change the rules. Full statement: #onpoli

BREAKING: The Ford government is changing Ontario's Freedom Of Information act system, effectively gutting a tool journalists use to obtain documents related to government decision-making: - The Premier, Ministers and their offices will all be excluded from the FOI system. - This applies to all existing requests - Only civil servants can be FOI'd - The government is extending the response timeline from 30 calendar days to 45 business days. #onpoli

Troubling interaction @TinaYazdani: “it’s my understanding that the upcoming budget will not include an increase in funding to K-12 schools, why is that?” Doug: “And again - can I maybe, offline, get all the media into one room and we’re gunna inform em…”
Nathaniel Arfin@ArfinNathaniel

We have been getting some excellent reporting from @TinaYazdani, and her questions today clearly upset the premier. "You're misleading the people. And it's your responsibility as the media to tell the truth."
