@charbel_g Bezos and his companies take billions in tax breaks and subsidies from hardworking US taxpayers, while being forced to pay tens of millions of dollars in wage theft settlements. You mean that, right?

@zdeborova @jimduey @eiszett You just said you don’t read the sources you cite. Is that because you … don’t trust them? I’m kidding. I know you don’t have a coherent standard or principle you follow and are just grasping at random straws right now Keep it up!

@jimduey @eiszett You absolutely should not trust anyone’s work … that is how science works! You always doubt and look for inconsistencies. Only when many people independently reproduce and extend a concept then it can become accepted.

Occasional errors and oversights are part of science. If we lost our driver’s license for a year every time we exceeded the speed limit by 10 km/h, daily life would become unworkable. Many countries instead use point systems, where trust can be rebuilt through good behavior.

@eiszett Have you read all the sources you ever cited? During my PhD we, along with dozens of other papers, cited a paper that I later found did not contain the result for which it was commonly cited. I should be banned I guess.

@ericstait @nicknamemankcin @charlesmurray So if there were equal complaints, that would have proven racism does not exist in America? Or were you going to draw the same exact conclusion regardless of this data We know the answer. We knew you were faking it this whole time

1. MCAT tests have a substantial correlation with performance in medical school. 2. Performance in medical school has a substantial correlation with various measures of physician competence. 3. Black scores on the MCAT for the last four decades have been substantially lower than white/asian scores. Around an SD or more. 4. Black mean performance as physicians on various measures of competence have been lower than white/Asian performance. None of the first three assertions can be empirically denied. The evidence is too consistent and replicable. The fourth assertion is not only empirically undeniable. It is logically inevitable.
Eric Tait@ericstait

@charlesmurray So Dr. Murray enlighten us on how what he said has bearing on how effective a practicing physician someone will become.

@richmintz @realBrianGordon @nytimes He didn’t advocate a rule disallowing 100k pay. He complained about a rule that they be paid anything less 100k If you’re on the other side of the argument, is you that is in favor of magical rules about what they’re allowed to earn

I understand the context that it’s been done before — including allegedly by the Obama administration — but Pearl Harbor VIP snorkel still seems very strange to me!
Sean Parnell@SeanParnellASW

This pathetic hit piece against @FBIDirectorKash Patel is why no one trusts the Failing New York Times anymore. At the invitation of Admiral Paparo, Commander of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, Director Patel led a senior delegation to INDOPACOM to advance joint operations against our adversaries. As part of this engagement, the delegation participated in a similar tour of the USS Arizona. As is standard practice on these visits, their hosts arranged the same Pearl Harbor tour that has been offered for years to senior administration officials across multiple administrations. This is not a new or a one-off event. The Fake News media is simply trying to smear Director Patel’s name any way they can.

I really do think this is a good example of male feminization. And it shows how it’s actually self-inflicted. Travel, adventure, and potential danger has always been male coded. Going hunting, going on quests used to be a right of passage for men. Are these men not doing that with their sons? “Sorry son, we can’t go anywhere, you see that’s consumerism” not only is this not something a man should say, but what right winger would ever utter those words?!🤦‍♀️ These men just want to stay inside the home play video games, masturbate & stay as far away from excitement as possible. This is becoming very problematic. How can they be “protectors“ if they’re too scared to leave the house. This is not normal!
Diane Yap@RealDianeYap

Why is it so male-coded these days to say traveling isn’t that fun, isn’t that great, isn’t that impressive, isn’t worth putting off “real life” for? Because these men want you in the house doing maid work and looking after their children. Depressing.

Traveling really isn’t that impressive. It’s not hard to do. You just go to an airport and get on a plane. It’s not a big accomplishment. Then you go somewhere and you have no responsibilities or obligations and just wander around and so of course it’s pleasurable enough. Traveling is fine. I’ve been to about 45 countries. But it’s not worth making big sacrifices for or delaying real life more than a year or two or anything like that.

@bonchieredstate Once again, they are not about anything but power They don’t believe the things they say except to the extent those things serve that purpose. If a “principle” does not help them win today, they’ll abandon it without hesitation And then embrace it again tomorrow - if it helps

It has nothing to do with "I could become else." Human beings are born into a wide range of circumstances. Some are born into well-off families in stable, wealthy societies. Others are born into poverty-stricken families in societies ravaged by war and natural disaster. It's simply true that the humans born into the former situations are luckier, in a global sense, than those born into the latter situations.

I must be missing something. A guy goes around annoying random ppl, asking people to chimp out, inviting them to follow him away from children so they can chimp out and get a good video, then if they do that he’s supposed to get to shoot them? That’s supposed to be legal?
