I’m grateful to @SecWar Pete Hegseth, for taking the time to discuss my legislation with me and for his strong commitment to helping advance this worthy effort to correct a longstanding injustice facing our nation’s Veterans. His public support for my top Veterans priority, the Major Richard Star Act, is deeply appreciated. This long-overdue legislation would finally allow roughly 50,000 combat-injured Veterans to receive the full concurrent benefits they have earned through their courageous service and sacrifice. While concerns about fiscal impact are understandable and deserve thoughtful consideration, we cannot balance our nation’s budget on the backs of the brave men and women who have already sacrificed so much in defense of our freedoms.
