Good news for once. F-15 WSO recovered alive. Was escaping and evading. Massive fire fight on tgt. Iranians were actively looking for him in the area.

@DigitalPastaFan @ArchMonkFritz @jkimballcook The official position is that it is killing, which may is rare situations, like rape, may or may not be justified. Murder is the willful and premeditated taking of life. Abortion is the taking of life even if we don't treat it that way.

@DigitalPastaFan @ArchMonkFritz @jkimballcook Why won't you actually say what the official position of the LDS faith is. The position is that the child is a human life, Members may participate in efforts to protect life, and if a member participate in, support, or encourages abortion they can be removed from the church.

people can argue about the reasons for this, but the leadership of the church (and President Oaks in particular) have long been troubled by the partisan imbalance among the membership of the church, lessening the GOP chokehold on the membership is a good thing

🔗: bit.ly/4m2lxXm American members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints stood out over the past 20 years as the only religious group besides atheists that shifted toward greater Democratic Party self-identification. Latter-day Saints remain the second most Republican-leaning religious group in the United States but a new Cooperative Election Study analysis found this GOP advantage has shrunk by around 10 percentage points. Read more about the shift at the link above. ✏️: @BrighamTomco, Deseret News 🎨: Eliza Anderson, Deseret News

@sltrib The move to the left is highly correlated with the move of LDS members toward secularism. The more devout the member the more likely they are right wing politically.

No group has moved leftward faster politically in the past 20 years than U.S. Latter-day Saints. They're still solidly Republican but less so. A few theories on why, and whether the trend will continue. sltrib.com/religion/2026/…

Republicans in Utah are following a reckless national trend of using ‘election security’ as a pretext to make it harder for citizens to vote. Proof-of-citizenship rules and stricter registration requirements won't solve nonexistent problems - they only risk disenfranchising eligible Utahns.

The Trump-backed SAVE Act appears all but doomed in the Senate. But these states are making moves to enact their own stricter requirements. time.com/article/2026/0…

@LDS_Dems The problem is these Small cities and towns are putting in regulation to stop or die building. They have imposed heavy reductions and infrastructure improvements that are far beyond what is required.

A down payment assistance program will only increase demand and increase the cost. I am used to hearing these dumb ideas from some Democrats but now Republicans are all in on this populist nonsense. Just build. It isn't complicated. Make it easier and cheaper to build
James Fishback@j_fishback

On Day 1 as Governor, I'll bring back the $385 million that Tallahassee Democrats and Republicans foolishly sent to Israel and then I'll separately launch a $385 statewide downpayment assistance program so young couples can buy their first home, get married, and have kids.

@DigitalPastaFan @ArchMonkFritz @jkimballcook If murder is the killing of innocent life and the Mormon church teaches that abortion in nearly every case is the taken of innocent life them abortion is murder in most cases. Simple if A=B and C=B then A = C.

@CameronSpendlo2 @ArchMonkFritz @jkimballcook I think we’re talking past each other. My contention is that the Church does not hold that abortion is murder, unlike what the other guy said “May” doesn’t matter in regards to whether abortion is murder. I agree that it changes whether or not it’s a sin

@jkimballcook @ArchMonkFritz The faith may not use the word murder. They call it the taking of an innocent life. They condemn laws that allow it. They condemn the support and advocacy of the practice. So again I ask how can a person of Christian faith the condemns abortion sort a part that advocates for it?

@ArchMonkFritz @CameronSpendlo2 No, just wondering why you would try to speak for the church if you aren't a member. The fact is, the church does not teach that abortion is murder. That doesn't make it acceptable, but it isn't murder according to the church. You can believe it's murder if you want to.

@DigitalPastaFan @ArchMonkFritz @jkimballcook Of course the word "may" if important it suggests that abortion in the case of rape may be impermisable and thus a sin by the faiths standards. This clearly shows the standard isn't just about accountability. Abortion is the killing of an innocent child.

@CameronSpendlo2 @ArchMonkFritz @jkimballcook The Church allows murder for compassion? Or do you agree that it’s not murder? The “may” doesn’t change anything. A victim of rape isn’t accountable for the pregnancy since they did not consent, however not aborting can still be a good thing Sorry, which question? Lots of text

@DigitalPastaFan @ArchMonkFritz @jkimballcook Don't be daft. It's about compassion obviously. You'll also notice that it's also the official position of the Mormon faith is that rape "MAY" justify an abortion. So it's not just about accountability, unless you think some victoms were asking for it. Now answer my question.

@ArchMonkFritz @CameronSpendlo2 @jkimballcook If something is murder, then it is unjustified. That is the definition. Your examples aren't relevant The life is innocent regardless of whether it's created from rape or incest, yet the Church allows for exceptions. Why?

@ArchMonkFritz @jkimballcook @CameronSpendlo2 It has more to do with agency and responsibility. If it were the case that all abortion is murder, then the Church’s position would be incoherent You don’t get to murder someone because of the actions of someone else, but the Church allows for abortion in cases of rape

@jkimballcook The Christian opposition to abortion is based on the commandment of "thou shalt not kill." But even if I grant your premise the point is still valid and you've made no rebuttal.

@csmaddox2008 There was no assertion that no Latter-Day Saints were Dems. It was never asserted that you must be religious to be moral. Who would ever assert that only LDS people belive in God? Democrats may value these things but not above abortions, state control for the "greater good," etc.

Lots of divisive assertions here. Many Latter-day Saints are Democrat. Many (most) non-religious people are moral. Many non-LDS people believe in God. Many Democrats value God, freedom, and faith. Most people are good, regardless of political or religious affiliation.

How is sodomizing a 12 year old boy appropriate inclusion, @JStuartAdams? Why legislate softer consequences instead of stopping it? Why put more kids at risk?

Iran has a right to exist. Also, they warned they would strike which I have been reliably informed makes them the most moral army in the world. Lastly, the children harmed were used as human shields. Did I miss anything?
Israel Foreign Ministry@IsraelMFA

The Iranian regime devastated Arad and Dimona by deliberately striking civilians with missiles. Over 100 people were injured, including children. A blatant war crime. Pure terrorism.
