@sully375 @CollinRugg Alex Karp and Thiel both revere Yarvin. So do Elon and JD. They quote him in public. Here’s a great Yarvin quote - "some people are more suited to slavery than others".  Cool stuff!

Fair point on the concerns, my man, but the idea that all Palantir founders revere Curtis Yarvin doesn't really match the evidence. Peter Thiel has had some ties, such as funding Yarvin's projects and calling him a powerful thinker in interviews, which shows selective interest in his critiques of bureaucracy and stagnation. Alex Karp, though, has a different background: a PhD in social theory. His public statements focus on strengthening Western democracies through tech against authoritarian threats like China and Russia. There's no public record of him engaging with or endorsing Yarvin's ideas directly. Palantir positions itself as supporting U.S. national security and defense within the current system, not replacing it entirely. Thiel's comments about humanity persisting were a hesitant response in a podcast on existential risks and tech progress, not necessarily a rejection of people. Much of the pushback comes from valid worries about surveillance and power concentration, but the full "Yarvin acolyte" framing for the whole team seems overstated.

NEW: Billionaire and Palantir co-founder Peter Thiel to hold secret ‘Antichrist’ lecture at an undisclosed location on the “Vatican’s doorstep” in Rome. The private lecture is being met with criticism from the Vatican. “Thiel’s entire body of work can be interpreted as a sustained act of heresy against the liberal consensus: a challenge to the very foundations of civil coexistence, which he now considers outdated,” said former advisor to Pope Francis, Paolo Benanti. Here's a better picture of the Annenberg Wildlife Crossing. It still has to go across the utility road, over the main road (Agoura Rd.) and to the hills on the other side. All the deception used in the hit pieces to make people think it's just the part over the 101 is pathetic.

Thinking that deer will reliably use this is retarded. I hunt deer, I understand deer because you have to think like them to hunt them. Deer are stupid, they are creatures of habit and they are stupid. They will almost invariably choose the path of least resistance. I won't say that this will have zero useage. Deer probably will use it, but they will also just cross the road like they always have because deer are fucking dumb. But even if it's not just deer and is cougar or other wildlife, most pretty much have the same thought patterns. Also animals aren't going to just delay gratification by changing their route to comport with this crossing, they will cross whenever is most convenient for them because they are animals and have no concept of human intended design.

@LegacyGrower One year myself and 8 grower neighbors all ran pre98 bubba. 8 diff grow methods from outdoor to chem hydro. Our soil organic guano tea had a lower yield but the flavor and high was by far the best. No one grows like that anymore for $ unless you do it yourself. S tier is gone

I actually think we’re mostly on the same page here — I wasn’t arguing against the idea that commercial breeding narrowed things down in certain scenes. My whole point was just that any grower’s (or smoker’s) view is still limited to what was available to them at the time — exactly like the boomer stuck on 40-year-old brick weed. Even with your years in the med program, the “greater diversity back then” you saw was still the slice that was circulating in that specific pipeline, not the full global pie of landraces and heirlooms most folks never touched and every other strain you never grew or flower you never smoked. So the inconsistency and non-linear reality I was describing includes that very bottlenecking you lived through. Appreciate you sharing the firsthand perspective though — it actually reinforces why broad “old weed was better” takes don’t hold up when you zoom out.

We really need to stop with the "weed does this or that to me or this person or say it was better in...." You cannot compare nor average a non-linear thing. Some people are smoking garbage, some are smoking fire, most are smoking somewhere in the middle, and this has always been the case. This can be a regional/logistics thing, leaving people consuming the same thing over and over, with no comparison. I personally knew a boomer that was STILL getting brick weed 7 years ago in Florida—and he revealed he's been getting it from the same person for 40 years, and NEVER smoked anything else. So naturally to him "the weed is too strong these days" when he tried mine. Now apply this to when it was all black market, your social circle, and today even where quality is hit or miss, at best, between dispensaries, etc. and its easy to understand where this logic comes from and why it makes no sense to make the comparison.

@RivianUpdates Great tip! Didn’t know you could do this. I prefer the key fob instead of fumbling for the app but mapping that button is a great idea since I don’t use it for anything else.

Upgraded from an iPhone 13 Pro to a 15 Pro and the Action Button has been surprisingly useful. I mapped it to lock/unlock my Rivian and it’s actually pretty convenient. Having a physical button on my phone feels like a dedicated key without needing to open the app every time. Yes, I upgraded to a 15 Pro in 2026… refurbished life keeps the wallet happy and the world greener. Still keeping my 13 Pro cause it has 1TB and is great for filming.

@grhmc Slag it all you want, if it works for him and didn’t cost an arm and a leg then that’s a win. Most of the “professional tradespeople” I’ve hired have done poor-mid quality work. DIY usually costs 1/4th- 1/10th the price of getting gouged by a “pro.”

@LongTimeHistory Let me rephrase so you liberals can understand it. Ice agents point the job by enforcing the laws Congress made arrest woman for refusing to comply with a lawful order. All this because the Democrats are refusing to pay our TDA agents.

ICE detain mother at airport—traveling with young daughter. First reported kidnapping at airport since Trump ordered ICE agents to report—refuse to show ID. "I don't know who you are!" witness yells. "You could be someone kidnapping her!" Agent continue to refuse to show ID until bystanders agree they should call police to report a kidnapping. Incident occurred at the San Francisco International Airport Gate E2 on March 22, 2026, at 10pm. #DemsUnited

@Michael_L_Rauch Dont forget about the fun of paying equivalent or greater prices than gas at most of the DCFC sites. Unless you can charge at home, mainly off solar, owning an EV is not a great experience. Also Teslas seem to suffer range drop over time much more than other EVs.

This is a big issue. Try explaining to newbie that they will have limited range at higher highway speeds or cold weather, take 30 minutes over 5 minutes to refuel & then oh in a few years you have less capacity in your battery unlike your gas tank which holds the same amount forever. 🤦‍♂️
Geoff Coffelt@Skate_a_book

Roadtrip! But each year I move more to the side of “we need bigger batteries” because degradation is becoming an issue at ~30% lost in 7 years. If a gas tank doesn’t shrink, how is the everyday person going to be convinced that EVs are better?
