Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella writes people need to stop focusing on AI sophistication vs. AI slop and instead focus on what AI can do for people, as he writes, "AI is a cognitive amplifier" Do NOT call AI slop. AI is a COGNITIVE AMPLIFIER theverge.com/news/852630/mi…

@Critical_Scribe Far Harbor DLC had an involving story and lots of atmosphere, which went to prove that: Making the base game as it was was completely intentional. Puddle deep, but pretty and grindy, was felt better for sales. And the actual sales figures will have validated this. Bummer.

I would argue that aside from the combat system getting an overhaul, the game was a step back from even Fallout 3. The voiced protagonist severely limited dialogue options, which already hampers the feel of the game because a lot of people love Fallout for how in depth its dialogue can go based on stats and feats. There is some of that, but having to voice it all not only shoehorns your character in a limited personality field, but you will just have less options in general due to budget. Quest design took a hit as well as I honestly didn’t find much of the side quests or quests in general to be that good. There weren’t any memorable moments that really stuck with me that 3 and New Vegas had. Granted, I did not play the DLCs, but having all your “good stuff” in the DLCs is not good game design, because it makes the main body all the more dull. Town building and settlement management was… well honestly the system should have been kicked to the curb so more effort could be placed into making the world better designed. Some people may like it, I found it a waste of time and the radiant quests that popped up from the system weren’t fun at all. The writing, especially, just didn’t grab me at all. There is a great story in there, especially with how the opening is and how the Institute works as a concept, but it all falls so flat that I don’t really feel anything from it. Also, the next Fallout better not be us looking for a family member again. Give us a lot open ended beginning so we can stop feeling this weird “I HAVE TO FIND MY DAD/SON” and then the players skips off for 200 hours not worrying about that at all. All in all, you can have some fun with Fallout 4, but I’d say it feels like a middling RPG, something that should not be coming out of a company as big as Bethesda, but as we now know, bigger company doesn’t mean better game.

Fallout 4 wasn't a bad game at all. People hate it because it was *almost* great. If Nuka-World was part of the base game, the main campaign was longer with more endings, and the 3 cities (Bunker Hill, Diamond City, & Good Neighbor) were each 2x bigger it would be phenomenal.

@Mirrormn @LuftkoppTim Unless you have it on your lap. The flimsy plastic case warps slightly and it interferes with the click & release. worst daily driver I ever had x.com/lainshep/statu…

@techbharat @NinjaNoticing I have a Dell XPS 13 from a few years ago, design looks the same (but it’s in cream) No tactile feel from keyboard, have to watch to hit the right keys Case flexes. If you use it anywhere but a desk then the touchpad doesn’t work well due to the flex 2hr 🪫 Total ass PC😭

@LuftkoppTim It's unfortunate, because this is one of the very few Windows laptops with a non-mechanical touchpad that can be clicked with the same amount of force across its entire area, a thing that Mac laptops have and makes them superior

For me, 2025 was quite a year. I rode the new Sydney Metro, Parramatta Light Rail and Melbourne Metro Tunnel, but I haven't yet got to Perth to see the completed Metronet. I must remedy that. And I stepped out of my comfort zone doing @Railnatter episodes with @GarethDennis 2/6

It’s a new year, which is a good time for a short thread. First up, a Happy New Year to you all. For those who value rationality, truth and ethics, let’s hope we see the pendulum of global discourse swing back to somewhere sane. It defo will, it’s just a question of when 1/6

Question for those that work at maccas or have recently. When they are busy in the store and in the drive thru, do they prioritise drive thru orders over in store orders to try and keep drive thru moving?

@Primm_Slim6969 @TheManlet_King I feel like Emil’s life goal is Colourful Theme Parks Without Depth for the last DLC he couldn’t be bothered coming up with an new idea so he just did it literally but all his releases are like that more or less (except Far Harbor, snuck through somehow)
