Israel is the birthplace of Judaism and the Jewish people.
This is where our peoplehood, language, and religion was formed. There are dozens of mitzvot that can only be fulfilled in the land. The Jewish calendar follows the seasons in Israel, and many of our holidays are land based. It’s an absurd proposition to separate the two.
And I promise you he doesn’t mean just the government because he doesn’t believe Jews have a right to self determine in the land regardless of government.

Driving in Phoenix/northern Arizona solidifies my opinions on Texas roads and drivers. TX is like Mad Max on steroids. Phoenix freeways are much cleaner and well maintained and the drivers don’t drive like they’re on a 3 day coke bender
