Josef Prusa of Prusa Research has raised serious concerns about Bambu Lab’s Bambu Studio slicer software. The program, a fork of the open-source PrusaSlicer, incorporates a closed-source networking plugin that Prusa describes as an unauditable “black box” downloaded from a CDN and capable of remote replacement. Prusa says this is dangerous because Chinese laws require companies to help their intelligence agencies and share encryption keys, and slicers handle sensitive 3D design files used in research labs, universities, and defense work. He also claims that Bambu Lab is breaking the open-source license rules by adding this closed part.

It’s rare for people from American space and Chinese space to interact, so had a good convo. They follow SpaceX’s plans and admire American propensity for crazy risk-taking. Said blowing up 11 Starships in a row wouldn’t be possible in China. Big global ambitions (intl partners)!

@teortaxesTex Doubt it, ITAR makes it pretty hard to steal spacex tech unlike Tesla. China can't copy protected technologies, like F-22/35, EUV. Building from scratch is hard for them

Really ambitious given that in a few years SpaceX is flying Starship on the regular. They'll have to really compress Elon's trajectory. Well, they already have the engine for their Starship well-tested, but the integration will be… expensive.
